Inexpensive, easy to use, long lasting
I love these things. THey work very efficiently, are easy to navigate through the menus, and don't send you driving down goat tracks anywhere near as much as Garmins or other GPS units. All GPS units make mistakes, but the TomTom series is less prone to errors than others. This is a very simple unit, small but with a screen large enough to be seen without glasses. The battery is large enough to get you through a full day's use, and with a docking station and power cable will stay on as long as it takes. Satellite acquistion used to be slow, but the latest update resolves that issue. The software is well thought out, with itinery planning and the ability to view the route as a map, turn by turn or simulation. The speaker volume is loud enough to hear even over loud stereos. The status ... I love these things. The status bar can be configured to give a wide range of information such as speed, direction, time remaining, signal strength and more. They may be getting old, but the basic functions of a GPS don't change, and these can be had for cheap. I was using my Verizon phone, but at $10 per month my first GO300 paid for itself in 2 months, and lasted another 5 years. I liked it so much I managed to get a box of 8 for $30. I may never get lost again. What do I use for an excuse now...?
