I bought Metal Arms after hearing it recommended from two different sources. I wanted to play it because I wanted to play a shooter that didn't subscribe to the tropes of modern shooters. I wanted a quirky, colorful world with colorful baddies and lots of fun guns with which to blow them to bits. That's all there, and I was glad of that. throughout the first chapter, the game was awesome, right up until the zombots show up. Then the game becomes hard. Very hard. One level has enemies that put themselves back together after being blown apart, that are very fast, and have obscenely damaging melee attacks. Then there are swarms of them. Another level has enemies that are essentially walking tanks, with miniguns, rocket launchers, and a whole lotta health. These could still be fun, but the game is very stingy with health, ammo, money, shops, upgrades, and most importantly, checkpoints. If your health is low when you hit a checkpoint, it will still be low every time you respawn. Therefore, levels can quickly turn into frustrating exercises in repetitive trial-and-error. Some may denounce this review and say that finding the correct path through a group of enemies is a selling point. I can admit, testing your wits to find which enemies to kill and how with limited resources can be fun. However, I was in the middle of three different stressful projects, and I bought this game hoping to unwind with some silly run-and-gun fun. Being killed by the walking tank, which I could neither outrun nor outgun, for the fortieth time left me angry. Is this a fun game? Yes, if you enjoy a difficult , challenging experience that will take several tries to get right. Take my advice, though: don't bother trying to play it to unwind from the stress of writing a research paper.Read full review
This is a fantastic game from the early 00s; engaging story & fun gameplay. A couple of sore spots (tower defense) but overall a blast. Was really looking forward to the sequels b'f Swingin' Ape Studios was bought out by Blizzard, who shut the series down.

This is one of my favorite shooters of all time. The bad guys are agressive and deadly, and the game is quite difficult. The only think I didn't like about it was the driving parts and the gun turret missions, since they are a little too difficult and you have to do them over and over. The other parts you have to do over and over also, but I consider them a good and worthwhile challenge. This game by now is nice and cheap, so pick yourself up one.
If you've played the later R&C game, like casual comic book style slapstick humour and puns, this is it.

My son is happy with the game and it works perfectly. The game is a little bit hard to get at the beggining, but it is fun anyway. It is an old game, nothing to compare with the new ps3 games. The fun is still the same, just the image are not that good.
