I remember when I first got this game years ago. It calm waters, and 2D fishing reminded me of the older SG and SNES fishing games. This game is actually in the same vein as the much-hated FMV games of the SCD and early PSX/SS era. The area where you fish is a looping video, and actually adds to the realism of the game. Once you get a bite and hook the fish, the view goes under water into a 2D view. The game despite the memories I have with it, hasnt aged well at all, and is similiar in concept to Harvest Moon (both published by Natsume), in that you must become the "Fishing Guru" or something along those lines. Fish you catch can be kept in an aquarium in your house, though mine always seem to die rather quickly. Replay value is high if you like to finish a game to 100%, though in reality you're just catching the biggest fish 2 of your 3 times through the game. Its a fun and flawed fishing game that led to the highest-selling fishing game franchise. I just hope they make one for Playstation 3...Read full review

One of my favorite games. Best fishing games ever. Good amount of different things to do.

I was curious about fishing games and when I bought this one, I knew why reviewers liked it. It starts out easy where fish hit your bait quickly. It gets more challenging as you move on to the creek and lake scene. The graphics are great being that it is a PS1 game but it's one of those games that make me want to play it often.
