Since the Sega CD is a little short on games, I would grab up any game that looked somewhat interesting. When I got Cliffhanger, I hadn't seen the movie, but I heard things about it. I don't think I paid more than 10 bucks for it, so I didn't think I would be out much if I got it and it sucked. The graphics are average for the characters and above average for the backgrounds. The levels are colorful, or as colorful as a snow covered mountain can get. The characters look a bit stiff and clunky. The music has a cinematic feel to it, thanks to the CD format. This does help it associate more with the movie it is based on. This game is a tad difficult, with numerous areas that can kill you instantly, and we all know how frustrating that can be. The controls aren't as responsive as I would have liked, but they are tolerable. The snowboarding areas of the game are nice, but you will lose most of your guys during these, especially the first few times you play them. Cliffhanger is a decent game and wouldn't hurt to play. This game won't leave a lasting impression, but there really isn't anything wrong with that.Read full review
