Whether or not Son Ye Jin and Jung Hae In, stars of the successful 2018 romantic drama, Something In The Rain, will soon co-star in another drama is the k-drama question of the day.

The JTBC drama was Son's first drama in five years and became one of the highest-rated cable dramas in Korean history. Viewers found the stars’ chemistry so appealing that it prompted rumors about the couple dating in real life. Although neither would confirm any personal relationship, during a press conference, Jung did say that the actress made his heart flutter. Both actors said that the drama provided them with some of the happiest moments in their career and they expressed obvious affection for each other.

In Something in the Rain, also known as Pretty Noona Buys Me Food, Son, 37, plays a woman who falls for her younger brother’s friend, played by Jung, 30. The two seem ideal for each other but her parents interfere and create complications. The drama, which touched on some #MeToo issues, forces her character to confront her dependence on her parents and her passive acceptance of workplace harassment.

Fans never received any confirmation that the Something In The Rain stars were dating. Nor can they be sure the couple will appear in the new drama together.

Son’s agency, MS Team Entertainment, has only said that she is reviewing several offers and has not yet decided. Jung’s agency, FNC Entertainment, released a similar statement, saying that he was considering many offers but had not yet made up his mind. Scheduling may be an issue, since Jung is filming the romance film Yoo Yeol’s Music Album with co-star Kim Go Eun.

The proposed drama, Spring Night, focuses on a couple who have dated for a long time but have to reevaluate their relationship when they consider marriage. It is written by Kim Eun and will be directed by Ahn Pan Suk, the same writer-director team that produced Something In The Rain.

Last year was busy for Son, who also worked with So Ji Sub in the romance film Be With You and in the film The Negotiation, alongside Hyun Bin, whom she has also been rumored to be dating. During the same year, Jung played King Hyeonjong in the historical film Heung-boo: The Revolutionist.

If Son and Jung  do work together on a second drama, it won’t be the first time k-drama stars have reunited for a second or even a third time. Jang Nara recently appeared in The Last Empress with Choi Jin Hyuk, who played her supportive second lead in Fated To Love You. Her other Fated To Love You co-star was Jang Hyuk and they first appeared together in The Successful Story of a Bright Girl and later in a one-episode drama special Old Goodbye. Eric Mun and Jung Yoo Mi co-starred  in Que Sera Sera, then reunited  seven years later in Discovery of Love. Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun worked together on the film The Thieves and then in the drama My Love From The Star. Park Seo Joon and Hwang Jung Eum played brother and sister in Kill Me, Heal Me, then lovers in She Was Pretty.

Whether Son and Jung reunite in Spring Night or in a future drama, even the possibility can provide a drama with plenty of pre-production publicity.
