La Cellette is located in the north of the Creuse department, Limousin region. Located at an altitude of 432 m at the highest point, the town of La Cellette is 9 km from Genouillac, 12 km from Sainte-Sévère, 13 km from Châtelus-Malvaleix, 20 km from Boussac and 22 km from La Châtre.
The village of La Cellette probably owes its name to an old hermit Cella existing on the site. Having always been part of the diocese of Limoges, La Cellette has a church whose apse is decorated with crows. Opposite this building is a huge rectangular house on one floor which is none other than the old castle of the lords of the place. This stronghold which brought in nearly 300 pounds in 1766, ended up joining the Saincthorent family who sold it in detail in 1880.
