3.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Pleasure Principle was not your typical romance novel but, none the less, it was still entertaining. Ms. Damita Jo definitely kissed a lot of frogs along the way before she found her prince. The author takes us on an interesting journey through DJ’s failed relationships and situationships from her freshman year in college throughout her adult life. And, oh, what a journey it was. With each man she dated, DJ learned a lot about herself and not just sexually. She took the time to really self-evaluate her life and recognize that she (not the men she dated) should be the center of her universe. I was absolutely overjoyed that DJ ended up with Ahmad. Out of all the guys she dated, he was my fave. I was so happy they got their HEA. While The Pleasure Principle was a good read, I didn’t necessarily love it. It had all of the elements you come to expect from a Nicole Falls book (pop culture/musical references, comedy, uber hot sex scenes, and introspective moments) but, I just didn’t like it as much as everyone else did.

Okay! 🔥

Whew Lordy! Miss Nicole, I am clutching my imaginary pearls after completing this book. I think this was more of a, “coming of age” story that included a ton of steamy parts! I thought it was super dope reading about all of the failed situationships that Damita had to endure from college to adulthood. Let me just say Damita definitely got her little phase out the way by the ending of the book. There was a ton of parts that had me laughing at Damita’s experiences with men and the fact that it almost seemed like she would fall so quickly- just got be let down. It was a never ending cycle. But, what I loved the most was when Damita took time to really have a good look at herself and actually enjoy her life. Overall, this was a good stand-alone that is really entertaining and lighthearted- like, it wasn’t too serious but there was an underlying message through all of Damita’s chaos and I loved it all! Good read! ❤️

Fun format, steamy sex, well written, four stars!

Damita’s journey through life and love is very well written and you really get to know her as a person through peeks into every significant romantic relationship she has in her life. I loved that her friends Cherie and Talia make appearances throughout the book and you see the evolution of their lives as well as a feel for her career so she comes across as multidimensional. Even though you only get short glimpses of the men in her life, Nicole does an excellent job of providing the highs and lows of each relationship, so you can appreciate how each man and situation has contributed to who Damita is a person.

The sex scenes are blazing hot and plentiful. There were a few minor editing misses, and I was irked by the fact that almost every partner called her ‘Sweetheart’, but those are my only real critiques.

I have had Nicole Falls books on my TBR list for a long time, and never got around to reading any. The format of this book intrigued me, so I decided to give it a try and I’m so glad I did. I really enjoyed how the title of each chapter matched what was going on in the story. I will definitely make some time to get through a few more of her books as I really enjoyed her writing.

Just Okay

I’ve come to expect funny, witty books from Nicole Falls. This book didn’t give me that feeling. I felt like I was waiting for it to get to the good part, but it never got there. The ending was cute, but everything leading up to that was a little boring. The one thing that I did like is that DJ’s dating history was relatable. I felt like she could’ve been one of my friends going through these relationships.

Best Nicole Falls Yet!!!!💜

The subtitle is "An Erotic Evolution" but I'm confident in saying Pleasure Principal encapsulates Nicole Fall's evolution as a writer. Much like Damita Jo, Nicole has always been good, DAMN good. But all the best elements of NF's works (pop culture/musical references, comedy, bomb sex scenes, introspective moments that while deep, don't feel heavy & some of thee best dialogue), are masterfully woven into this amazing work, that it kinda feels like a Nicole Falls magnum opus. This story flowed like watching a movie where each new act started with a new tape being put in the stereo and a new Janet Jackson song gives the soundtrack for a new phase of Damita Jo's life. From the first paragraph to the last page, I was all-in, captivated by Damita's journey through womanhood. I loved everything about this book! If I could give it 20 ⭐️ stars I would! Brava, Nicole Falls, Brava!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The Evolution of Damita Jo Jackson

I love how this book draws you in to have an in-depth view of Damita Jo Jackson's sexual liaisons from beginning with Ahmad Brooks to ending with Ahmad Brooks. DJ had two very good friends in Cherie and Talia that always had her back and gave her very good advice in her relationships and about herself in general. DJ was emancipated from being awkward and shy to being very secure and self aware of her sexuality with herself or her partner. This book brought back some memories for myself with my first love and our experiments with exploring our bodies.

Really loved this one! Since I didn't get to do much dating growing up it was like living and learning through her eyes. Some of her experiences were definitely better than others. Her ups and downs, the hard lessons, the sexual awakenings, the heartbreaks. Each relationship taught her a lesson and shaped her into the independent amazing woman that she is.

My favorite part is her learning that she doesn't need anyone to make her whole she only needs herself and if she wants a man to help amplify her already amazing life then she'll do that. I was pleasantly surprised with the end but was hoping for it all along.

Go DJ! Pleasure indeed

“You’re about to go on the ride of your life, girl.”

Yes she did! She rode, they rode often rode hard and put away wet! I loved her self and sexual exploration. Her lessons were learned well and her experiences definitely molded her. She emerged confident, self assured, self loved, and mature. She knew who she was and I enjoyed the way it was written to show it all. There were many epiphanies along her journey about herself, relationships, sex, and life.

Nicole dropped some nuggets and jewels in this book that will definitely speak to all women.

I loved it!

Damita my girl

Just like Nicole I’m a huge Janet Damita Jo Jackson fan.
DJ was everything and I felt her feelings in each chapter. The songs were all important to explain her sexual come to life moments. This book was so on point about discovering yourself and knowing your worth. DJ found love full circle and I’m so happy it was Ahmad. Great job Nicole and I hope Janet Ms. Jackson cause I’m nasty responds to my DM about your book.
SN: please listen to the songs that were mentioned in the book. Twenty foreplay is my favorite song.

Loved it!!!

The energy that Nicole Falls brings to the table in every book makes me love her writing even more. The characters are always fully developed and have a best friend who is down to ride at all times. They hold the lead accountable and truly care for them, this book was no exception. Watching DJ go through the journey of Womanhood was so relatable. Where all experienced some form of this book and if not would love to expletive it. I know I could definitely use this energy in my life!! Nicole Falls has done it again!!!

So not what I expected

Damita Jo is definitely a seasoned, secure, confident woman by the time we first meet her, but then she takes on a journey of her evolution. The glimpses into the past take some definite twists and turns, homegirl definitely went through A Lot to get to where she ends up. There were definitely some erotic moments, especially chapter 8, but not quite in the way that I initially thought I'd get it. Good book, a bit draggy at times, but worth the erotic moments she shares with us.

I didn't enjoy this book too much. It started off with a young lady who was not into anything. Not even herself. But she had one friend who made everything worth wild. She (DJ) starts talking about how to comes full circle. How she ended up being so lucky. One relationship after another and how they didn't work out for her. How it was always missing something unless she was dating herself. Then she was reintroduced to him and everything worked out. Yay!!!! It was boring to me. It just took too long.

DJ is My Spirit Animal

DJ experienced the lifestyle I’ve never had the audacity to live. I wish I could say my experiences took me on a learning journey. I admire how she learned throughout her exploration of self. She had the highs and lows so it wasn’t all peachy keen. However, after she wallowed… and her bestie and mentor gave her sound advice and/or a swift kick in the behind, she picked herself up and moved into her next “assignments”. This was a fictional guide to self-care and self-love in a beautiful way.

WOW

I’ve been a fan of Nicole’s since I read Adore You. She just has a way with words that is superior. I LOVED everything about The Pleasure Principle. We truly went on a journey and y’all about something coming full circle. I think everyone can relate to DJ, I know I certainly could. I laughed out loud several times and had to put my kindle down because things got HOT. PURCHASE THIS BOOK AND GET YOUR LIFE!!!!

Damita Jo came full circle with her love life and it was beautiful to see. I thoroughly enjoyed and related to her journey of discovering her sexual self and experiences. If you don't read this book for any other reason, read it for Chapter 8! But overall I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a spicy read that also focuses on a woman's journey of self discovery and reflection throughout sex, love, relationships, and career.

The Bomb 💣

The Pleasure Principles was all that and a bag of chips! I know the title tells what type of book 📚 you are getting, however; Nicole Falls enlightens us that we should all do self care! Damita Jo, AKA DJ, goes through the cycles of life but learns that mental health and safe care are most important things in life! Nicole Falls chapter 8 is definitely one ☝️ for the books!

I LOVED THIS!!!!

I loved this read. Not only did I enjoy the way it was written but the songs matching each chapter I personally took the challenge of listening to the song matching each chapter. I felt like I was listening to a new friend telling me of her life journey. Yes it was about her sexuality journey but there was so much more there. I enjoyed we were able to see DJ learning how to navigate life as she became a woman on so many levels! BRAVO Ms. Falls!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Loved DJ’s Evolution

DJ’s emotional and sexual evolution was extremely relatable. We all have these timelines for when we expect to reach certain milestones, but most times, things just don’t work out this way. And I love that this book showed that journey. Make sure you download the playlist for the book, that was a great bonus!

Yassss!

I don’t know how you do it...but damnit you did! Love, love, love. This angle and vibe was spot on. I am in awe of how you sweep me up and keep me afloat. But can I ask you this, why do you just drop me off a cliff? Just when I’m settling in, the end. And the most important part, my baby! 🙃

This is such a great tribute to JJ's discography. The life lessons DJ learned throughout the years felt like a real journey into a contemporary Black American womanhood. Yes, a lot of sex, but it was really about a woman's journey trying to find who she is... And we also need this kind of stories. I loved it!

What a lovely read. We got to experience DJ growing up and discovering herself in many different ways. It’s an erotic read but nothing too crazy. As I journeyed through the book, I tried to figure out who she married. I was wrong! It had a sweet ending but I was a little disappointed that there was no epilogue.

This was amazing. Got to see a woman progress through life and her femininity/sexuality. To live unapologetic is amazing. It’s great that she took time to really explore life then found her person
