Significance
Nizwa fort, the largest on the Arabian peninsula was built in the 17th century. It is walled with rounded massive walls. The main tower situated at the southeast corner is about 50 meters in diameter. Battlements, turrets, secret shafts, false doors and wells are present at the structure. The fort is also served as a school of astronomy, medicine and Islamic jurisprudence.

State of Preservation
