Loculi

Overview

Loculi is a lowland village that rises in the plain crossed by the Cedrino river and is surrounded by gentle hills. The small heart of the village, which has recently been restored, has returned to its former beauty: the numerous historic houses can once again recount the charm and enchantment of times gone by, with lines and details reminiscent of centuries gone by, that speak of a life of slow rhythms, of a daily routine of which the distant memory remains etched in stone. The fact that this was - and still is - a special place, of great spirituality, is also narrated by its very name: Loculi derives in fact from 'locus', which means 'sacred wood', as is still testified today by the presence, in the territory surrounding it, of many cult areas dating back to the Nuragic period.
