🎉 GOOD NEWS! 🎉 Volotea is leading the way as the first Spanish airline to be hunting trophy-free. 🛫 Volotea and Humane Society International proudly announce the airline’s policy to prohibit the transport of hunting trophies on board its planes. A primary motivation for trophy hunting is to bring home an animal as a trophy for personal use as decoration. Given that a significant number of trophy hunters travel abroad to hunt, the transportation sector plays a key role in facilitating this unethical and harmful industry. HSI/Europe is working with major players in the transportation industry to help them develop and implement policies to prohibit the transport of hunting trophies. The last decade has seen an increase in companies banning the transport of hunting trophies via their online policies to protect against biodiversity loss and trade in imperiled animals. On #WorldVeterinaryDay we shed light on our Vets for Ukrainian Pets programme that keeps on providing free veterinary care to pets from Ukraine and ensures that refugees can safely stay and travel with their companion animals across the EU! Launched in April 2022 in collaboration with the Federation of Veterinarians in Europe and the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations, this programme covers the costs for veterinary care up to 250 Euros per animal in 38 European countries. More than 3,500 animals have been assisted so far, and funding for the programme has been extended until December 2024. The reasons to choose #kindness towards pigs are endless. Pigs are a lot like the dogs in our homes, they greet each other with their snouts and make “barking” noises when playing. They are also natural swimmers! On industrial farms mother pigs are crammed in gestation crates where they can barely move.
