We have had a successful #submarine dive today and relocated the #DUKW. The US #military vehicle was lost on 30 April 1945, days before the end of the #WW2. All the crew of 25 perished with the exception of Corporal Thomas Hough, who was a lifeguard in civilian life. The wreck, located at 276 meters of depth in #LakeGarda, Italy, is a war grave. Our present mission is to assist the local authorities with the monitoring and preservation of the site. Here is an article with preliminary information and today's developments: https://lnkd.in/ec-nWgS For more information visit our website: www.promare.org

USM Gulf Coast Research Lab's Marine Education Center is hosting the 2023 Regional #SeaPerch Challenge, and this year's theme is Ocean Exploration. The MEC and SeaPerch are sparking interest in the blue economy and growing the next generation of ocean explorers, engineers, and #ROV operators. The team at USM's Roger F. Wicker Center for Ocean Enterprise knows when students participate in hands-on activities with #bluetechnology, their career opportunities expand and include higher-paying jobs in the growing ocean economy. The Coastal and Marine Resources Core Lab (CMR) has a vision for KAUST (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology) to become the center of the marine technology ecosystem in the Kingdom. By attracting industry leaders to KAUST through its advanced facilities, location, and expertise, CMR leads the way in bringing advanced #marine #technology to science. CMR staff are trained by technology companies, and this knowledge is shared with KAUST students and Kingdom partners. As part of this vision, last week CMR showcased to Aramco visitors some of the #autonomous technologies available to KAUST partners for #RedSea exploration. The #CORE of Technology

Teachers participating in this year's SeaPerch program toured the USM Roger F. Wicker Center for Ocean Enterprise's Marine Research Center. Staff from the USM Gulf Coast Research Lab's Marine Education Center also sat down with the teachers to give them information and resources so they could prepare their students for this year's SeaPerch program. We can't wait to see the ROVs the students will create and compete with in February. If your school wants to participate in the SeaPerch program, contact Kara Davis at Kara.E.Davis@usm.edu for more information. #southernmiss #USM #coastalusm #SMTTT #ROV #SeaPerch #students #robotics #education #competition #marineresearchcenter #oceanenterprise #marineeducationcenter #MRC #MEC #mississippi #gulfcoast #msgulfcoast

Finding the Cost of Freedom
5yA former work colleague and uncle of another (both now deceased) served in the US Army's 10th MTN DIV. Both men recalled that incident with great sorrow. Partly because it appeared to be caused by overloading of the vehicle rather than enemy action. (although there was still plenty of that along the road up the lakeshore), but perhaps most especially because at that time the war was almost over (only a day or two later they were drinking wine in Mussolini's private villa). Very eerie photos. "Rest in peace" to all who were aboard.
