🌍✨ I had the honor of being a trainer at the Management of Internationalization Course for Central America, organized by DAAD German Academic Exchange Service - Leibniz Universität Hannover at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. During the course, I conducted a workshop on #InternationalizationoftheCurriculum and provided feedback on the participants' projects. It was inspiring to share this space with talented experts such as Brenda García Portillo and Cristina Eftimie, and to collaborate with internationalization leaders from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. Some highlights from this experience: ✨ I thank DAAD - LUH for prioritizing the generation and transfer of knowledge from and for #LatinAmerica, I believe the contextualization and understanding of the cultural and social nuances adds great value to these training opportunities. ✨ Despite the differences in social and political contexts, we face very similar challenges across the Latin American region. There are still opportunities to make internationalization a more strategic and intentional process in the region.  ✨ Collective efforts to contextualize practices and strategies are key for regional development and integration in the higher education field. We have an opportunity to embrace more #critical approaches to internationalization in the region towards a more #inclusive, #sustainable, and #decolonial internationalization, one that promotes social and cognitive justice and meaningful #engagement with our #territories. ✨ Peer and #collaborativelearning are a fantastic approach to building knowledge in the region. It was fascinating to see participants sharing their own experiences to enrich each other's projects. The American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland (AUS) is thrilled to announce that it was successful in its application to join the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE). As the first member to join from Switzerland, AUS contributes to the EURASHE’s continental representation and gains a partner to advocate on its behalf in all relevant policy-making platforms of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). I was also part of the AFS program and I went to New Zealand back in 1993. Personally, this experience meant 2 practical changes to me: 1) I became open to change in almost every aspect of my life. When you are far away from home, in a culturally different country, you will always be changing and optimizing day-to-day life. I believe I’m a very adaptative individual towards corporate and entrepreneurial life today because I opened my mind. 2) Critical Thinking: when you are exposed during a whole year/semester to be comparing the good/the bad /the worse of your country towards your host country and viceversa, you definitively develop a critical point of view. Just inagine how lucky you are if you have 3 or more experiences living overseas. I recommend to anyone looking for inspiration, motivation and becoming a better version of themselves.
