'Addiction to internet and social media' is one of the challenges mentioned by freelance journalists in Italy in a survey about their mental health, done by Alice Facchini for IrpiMedia. (It's worth Google translating the research below!) Besides huge factors such as job instability and precariousness, and low remuneration, remaining connected and available at all times, and working at a frenetic pace negatively influence journalists too. I believe the solutions aren't simple but it can help to start an honest conversation about the triggers of social media for journalists and admit that the tech companies are built to make us addictive. Love to hear your thoughts! We're organizing a webinar about this topic for SembraMedia next week. With Alice as one of our speakers. Write 'webinar' in the comments and I share the link to register once it's available.
