The Israel-Gaza conflict has tied celebrities and commentators in knots, with most people horrified by any acts of horror, and not being willing to take a defined side in the conflict.

However, as is the case with any geopolitical struggle, those who have no direct links to the issues in Israel and Palestine have begun to vehemently defend one side or the other, which has often brought controversy in one way or another.

One such individual is popular actor, Susan Sarandon, who has been sensationally dropped by her former Hollywood agency after she went on an ill-advised anti-Jewish rant.

UTA made the decision to cut ties with their former client after the 77-year-old compared the plight of Israeli victims of the October 7 terrorist attack to that of Muslims living in the United States of America.

"There are a lot of people afraid of being Jewish at this time, and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country," Sarandon declared at a pro-Palestine rally in New York.

Sarandon has been widely criticized for her comments

It has become increasingly clear that Sarandon is incredibly committed to the cause of Palestinian people, with her social media feed having been full of content related to such a stance since the outbreak of the war.

Sarandon was widely criticized for her words, even before UTA took the decision to cut ties with the actor.

Aviva Klompas, the former director of speechwriting at the Israeli Mission to the United Nations, was particularly scathing.

"When Susan Sarandon said that Jews are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, she was saying that American Jews have it coming, that we don't deserve to live free from harassment and assault," Klompas declared.
