Country star Kelsea Ballerini was struck in the face when a fan threw an object onstage at her show in Boise, Idaho, on Wednesday.

Ballerini, 28, was performing her song "If You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down Too)" when she was hit. A video shared on Twitter, recorded by fan Brittney Thompson, appears to show Ballerini stop singing while her violinist checks her face.

After trying to proceed with the song, Ballerini is briefly seen in the video leaving the stage.

“Kelsea handled this very professionally, exited the stage for a few short minutes and came back on after an outfit change and continued her set," Thompson said. "She proceeded to play the song that was interrupted on her B stage acoustically. We all love Kelsea, and her and other artists deserve a safe environment."

Concertgoer Amanda Florido later recorded and posted Ballerini's proceeding with the concert.

"Her tour manager, Dustin, came on stage after the incident and informed the crowd that it was a friendship bracelet," Florido told NBC News. "He also asked that people not throw things. She then came back onstage a few minutes later."

Thompson said the thrown object was a friendship bracelet.

Fans shared Florido's video of Ballerini addressing the incident later in the show.

"I want to say about what just happened, all I care about is keeping everyone safe," she said in the video. "So if you ever don't feel safe, please let someone around you know. There's security everywhere tonight."

Representatives for Ballerini didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ballerini is one of several female artists who have had troubling incidents onstage in recent weeks. On Saturday, Pink appeared stunned after a fan threw their mother's ashes at her during her show at the British Summer Time Festival in London.

Pop stars Bebe Rexha and Ava Max were also injured by fans at their concerts in recent weeks.
