Card Trader - Pocketstation Recreation for ePSXe Forbidden Memories

CardTrader - Now for any emulator


Hi.

It's been some months since I restarted playing FM once again but only a few weeks since I discovered the issue around the full game completion for non Japanese versions of the game (and the pocketstation existence).
The topic really caught my attention so I decided to investigate.

Getting to the point, I decided to recreate the management that the pocketstation provides, as an extra tool for game completion. All of that is condensed into what I called, CardTrader. With this tool you will be able to manage the cards you obtained in the game just like with a real pocketstation, being able to perform Fusions, insert Passwords, and get many cards randomly as if it were the Remote communication.

The information used to develop this program was scientifically provided by GenericMadScientist here, and experimentation performed by Infamous_888 here, and some confirmations by Flavio90.


Some people might not be able to get the physical pockestation for some reason, so I hope this helps those that still want to complete the game through the legal mechanics.


The usage of this tool is simple and you must use the info provided in the first link in order to do that:

Fusing cards: you insert the card numbers (e.g: blue eyes is 001) and fuse them to get a resulting card.
So for example 371 + 372 + 373 + 667 will give you Gate Guardian. By the way 000 means no card inserted in that slot.

Password: this replicates the lottery mode. Enter a password and hit the Insert Pass button to test your luck!. Like in the real pocketstation you must complete the game first to play Lottery. Only one copy of a card is allowed.

Claiming Cards: this intends to replicate the remote communication feature. The remote com was an alternate method of earning cards. You take a device capable of emitting IR signals and make the pocketstation to read those signals, so it gives you a random card. Here you press the Claim Card button and wait for a random card to be granted. Like in the real pocketstation you can only get one copy of a card.

the claim card feature of my program will randomly generate a card ID (nothing else but a function that generates random number since i cannot duplicate the IR method for obvious reasons), and thats the card you are going to get. The function covers numbers from 1 to 722 so from there i say that you have a probability of 1/722. Of course as i said, for legality i have forbidden the possibility of getting an unconfirmed card. The random number that is generated well could be 722, but that doesnt mean that the program is going to give you the magician of black chaos, instead, it will ask you to try again. IIRC you said that about 24 cards are unobtainable through remote control.. those are exactly the same cards you are not going to obtain here.
What i did not understand is that you say that is possible to get a card more than once in the original pocketsation via remote control?
From the experimentation that Infamous_888 did on his pocketsation i heard him say that you can only get one copy of each card generated that way.

And there is another thing for example you cannot get 2 card at the same time you get only one once and just 1 copy thats all but there is not a big problem because is easy to bypass this you start new game again and you try again with the remote communication until you get again the card you want hope it helps

You can try to repeat that code millions and billions of times but it is useless because that code will never work since the id of my pocket station doesn’t match i still cannot believe what Konami did this is not fair for the player to make things so extremely hard difficult and impossible

Do you know if any of the PocketStation modes are “locked” until you clear Campaign? I vaguely remember reading that the Card Lottery was locked until you clear Campaign but I forget if I ever checked if that was really true.

Now im gona tell you something interesting I noticed on my pocket Station
I was experimenting with my pocket Station and I send a save file with 722 card unlocked which i used game shark Long time ago but what made me curious was this that the pocket station reconized all the unconfirmed card but there was only one card that the pocket station didn’t recognized that card was magician of black chaos Card number 722 Even that card was in my deck and many other copies on the chest the program does not recognized It from what I understand there is a good news and a bad news since the pocket Station recognizes these unconfirmed cards it means that they are obtainable but we dont know how there is a secret or debug glitch whatever only developers know I mean some of them are obtainable with lottery mode but that is impossible We must find another way if is possible to discover in future but magician of black chaos is the most mysterious card and i think only this card is 100% unattainable Because since the pocket Station does not recognize the card on the list i doubt that you can get it down im uploaded all the unconfirmed card from black luster soldier until the number 720
