Hoyle Tanner names CFO, COO

Manchester-based engineering firm Hoyle, Tanner & Associates Inc. has announced the promotions of Michelle Carrozzella to chief financial officer and Matthew Low, to chief operations officer.

Carrozzella has worked for HTA for the last seven years as director of finance and has more than 25 years of experience in finance positions. Low has been the firm’s director of engineering operations over the last eight years, and before that led the bridge team.

Portsmouth to study 4 sites for workforce housing

The Portsmouth City Council has voted unanimously to instruct a city committee to identify the top city-owned site to be developed for work-force housing.

The committee will have four sites to choose from. A list of 200 potential sites for “multi-family workforce-housing” was previously narrowed down by city staff to:

• The Lower City Hall parking lot at Junkins Avenue
• Falkland Way
• Lister Academy site off Sherburne Road
• Greenleaf Recreation Center at Greenleaf Avenue.

The Portsmouth Herald reported that Mayor Deaglan McEachern said any such development would involve the city giving the land to the housing authority.

Danielle Ventre

Ventre joins Badger Peabody & Smith

Danielle Ventre has joined Badger Peabody & Smith Realty and will be based at the firm’s North Conway office. Ventre, who also is a licensed real estate agent in Massachusetts, has a background in business management, accounting and finance in the construction industry.

Mark Torrisi elected chair of lumber co-op

LMC, the largest building materials and forest products buying co-op in North America formerly known as the Lumbermen’s Merchandising Corporation, has announced that Mark Torrisi, president of Jackson Lumber & Millwork has been elected as chair of its board of directors.

Torrisi has been a member of the LMC board for several years.

He has also served as president of the NH Retail Lumber Association and on the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association board of directors. In 2015, he was recognized as the New Hampshire Lumber Person of the Year by NHRLA.

Jackson Lumber & Millwork has a millwork manufacturing facility in Raymond, NH, as well as lumberyards and retail stores in Amesbury, Woburn and Lawrence in Massachusetts.

Equity-back engineering firm Pinchin acquires Ransom Consulting

Ransom Consulting LLC, a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental company with offices in New England and the Mid-Atlantic, including New Hampshire, has been acquired by Pinchin Ltd., an environmental, engineering, building science, and health & safety consulting firms with a footprint across North America.

Pinchin is backed by Keystone Capital, a long-term private equity company that builds platforms through organic growth and acquisition.

Ransom has 80 employees at its six offices in Wenonah and Hamilton in New Jersey, Portsmouth, NH, Providence, R.I., North Andover, Mass., and Portland, Maine.

Pinchin has a staff of over 1,000 engineers and specialists in more than 50 offices across North America.

Fairfield Inn & Suites opens in North Conway

Local dignitaries were on hand to celebrate the grand opening of the new Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel in North Conway.

Among those in attendance were local Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce members, city officials, Mt. Washington Valley President Rob Clark, Fairbank Group Chair Brian Fairbank and Cranmore Mountain Resort President Ben Wilcox, along with hotel owners Richard Lafrance, chairman of Lafrance Hospitality, and Tim Burkhardt, vice president of lodging and development of Lafrance.
