Kindergarten Spelling Words
Our kindergarten spelling words are broken down into a scope and sequence across 36 weeks to take you from the beginning of school through the whole school year! As you can see by the curriculum sheet, we start off the program with beginning sounds (week 1-3), then move on to onset/rhyme words (weeks 4-9), CVC short vowel words (weeks 10-18), consonant digraphs (weeks 19-24), ending CK words (weeks 25-27), and CVCe words (weeks 28-36). In addition, we include bonus words and more than 100 Dolch sight words like “like”, “will”, “away”, “one” and “off”. First 9 Weeks (1-9) Printable Word Lists
Week 1 of spelling words includes beginning sounds, such as: apple, gum, elephant, jump, and igloo. Also included: bonus words and sight words.
Week 2 of spelling words focuses on beginning sounds, including: kid, lion, queen, and park. Bonus words and sight words are also included!
Week 3 spelling words focus on beginning sounds, such as: up, whip, yak, and watch. Bonus words and sight words are also included.
Week 4 of spelling words focus on Onset/Rime (-at) words, like: mat, hat, chat, and that. Bonus words and sight words are also included.
Week 5 of spelling words focus on Onset/Rime (-it) words, such as: sit, wit, pit, and fit. Bonus words and sight words are also included!
Week 6 spelling words include Onset/Rime (-ot) words, such as: bot, pot, not, and dot. Sight words and bonus words are also included.
Week 7 spelling words include Onset/Rime (-ap) words, like: nap, zap, map, and gap. Bonus words and sight words included.
Week 8 spelling words include Onset/Rime (-ip) words, like: lip, ship, nip, and whip. Bonus words and sight words included.
Week 9 spelling words include Onset/Rime (-op) words, such as: bop, shop, pop, and top. Sight words and bonus words are also included!
Second Nine Weeks (10-18) Printable Word Lists
Week 10 spelling words focus on short A CVC words, such as: fab, sat, lab, and dad. Bonus words and sight words are included.
Week 11 spelling words focus on the short vowel I sounds in CVC words, such as: fit, hit, pit, and pin. Sight words and bonus words are also included!
Week 12 spelling words focus on short A/I vowel sounds in CVC words, such as: map, yip, lap, and kit. Sight words and bonus words are also included.
Week 13 spelling words focus on the short O vowel sound in words, such as: dog, hot, log, and bot. Bonus words and sight words are included as well.
Week 14 spelling words focus on the short U vowel sound in CVC words, such as: mud, sun, cut, and run. Sight words and bonus words are also included.
Week 15 spelling words focus on short U/O vowel sounds in CVC words, such as: rut, pup, pot, and cop. Bonus words and sight words also included!
Week 16 spelling words focus on the short E vowel sound in CVC words, such as: bed, set, led, and pet. Bonus words and sight words also included!
