ROUNDUP: Bobcats top STA on night of milestones

DOVER -- The Oyster River High School volleyball lost the first set and came from behind in two others to beat Division II rival St. Thomas Aquinas, 3-1, on Tuesday night.

The Bobcats (10-2) won by scores of 16-25, 25-22, 25-17, 27-25. STA fell to 6-6.

OR trailed 19-17 in the second set and 21-18 in the fourth set.

It was a milestone night for both teams as OR's Corinne Quaglieri hit her 500th career dig, while STA's Mady Buchalski hit 500 career kills. Both hit their marks in the final set.

Quaglieri had nine kills and 18 digs, while Maggie Sylvester had 11 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Emma Hampton added six kills. Hailey Davis had nine digs. Isabelle Kalway ran the offense with 27 assists.

For St. Thomas, Buchalski had 10 kills and five aces, while Kaitlyn Ford notched nine kills. Annabel Kossakoski added 12 assists and nine digs. Kateri True collected 15 digs.

BOYS SOCCER

Winnacunnet 3, Merrimack 0

MERRIMACK -- Marcos Chanlatte scored two goals and assisted on another, all after halftime, as the Warriors improved to 6-4-1 in Division I.

Chanlatte scored on a PK then on a feed from Abel Ravencraft. Chaz Ziolkowski scored the final goal.

Nathan Todaro made 11 saves, and the Warriors got a strong game from the back line of Dan Ciolfi, Daniel Kim, Jake Murray and Cam Hart.

St. Thomas 6, Somersworth 0

DOVER -- The Saints improved to 3-6-1 in Division III with the win.

Nicolas Siagian had a strong game on both sides of the ball for the Hilltoppers (0-12) and Andrew Pincince stopped 24 of the 30 shots he faced.

Traip 5, North Yarmouth Academy 0

KITTERY, Maine -- Frankie Driscoll had a hat trick and the Rangers improved to 6-4-1 in Cass C.

Dylan Santamaria and Jose Liberal also scored for Traip. Emerson Brown had three saves in goal.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Thomas 3, Campbell 1

LITCHFIELD -- In a battle between Division III contenders, the Saints got a goal from Morgan Atwell five minutes into the game and led throughout.

Chelsea Cooper, who assisted on that early goal, added one of her own in the second half. Ella Kuselias capped the scoring for the Saints (10-1) off an assist from Blanca Recoder.

Ava Perfilio and Shelly Heim combined for eight saves in goal.

Campbell fell to 9-2.

Somersworth 4, Laconia 1

LACONIA -- The Hilltoppers improved to 3-5-1 in Division III with the win, with Becca Pincince scoring a hat trick.

Rachel Pincince (from Marissa Turgeon) scored the only goal in the first half. Pincince scored her three after halftime, with from Gabby Lensky and Harper Blank getting credited with assists.

Coe-Brown 1, Plymouth 0

NORTHWOOD -- Sam Troy scored on an assist from Kendall Nester in the 58th minute for the game’s only goal.

The Bears (5-6 in Division II) allowed just five shots on goal while goalie Mackenzie Quick made three saves in the win.

FIELD HOCKEY

Marshwood 3, Portland 0

PORTLAND, Maine --- The Hawks improved to 4-7-1 in Class A with the win at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Alisha Dube, Corrin Hasty and Emma Tice scored the goals for Marshwood.

GOLF

Dover takes 2nd

HUDSON -- The Green Wave (203) wrapped up their regular season by finishing behind Hanover (194) and ahead of Nashua South (232) at Green Meadow GC.

Dover was led by Oliver Stevens, who shot 37, Joe Dulac (38), Pete Solbo (39), Dario Ceppetelli (44) and Sean Murphy (45).

The team finished at 13-10 and expects to take part in the Division I state tournament at Stonebridge CC next Tuesday.

Clippers close with loss

GREENLAND -- Portsmouth (84) finished behind Hollis-Brookline (115) and Kennett (106) in its final match of the season at Portsmouth CC.

Scoring for the Clippers (9-16) were Luke Cassell (19 Stableford points), Boden Driscoll (19), Michael Schoff (17), Liam Gravelle (15), and Jackson Barnes and James Becksted (14 apiece).

Schoff and Luc Gagnon will represent Portsmouth at the Division II state tournament at Sky Meadow CC in Nashua next Thursday.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Portsmouth wins

PORTSMOUTH -- Ari Montville led a parade of four Clippers at the top as they beat St. Thomas in a dual meet, 16-44.

Montville (17:40), Leo Swainbank (18:01), Nick Norris (18:08) and Zach Yeaton (18:36) finished in the top spots.

The top finisher for the Saints was Nick Genkinger, who came in fifth in 18:50.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Clippers top STA

PORTSMOUTH -- Portsmouth took spots two through six and beat the Saints by a score of 20-34.

Angela Hagstrom (21:28), Sarah Morin (22:09), Mya Catino (22:11), Lilia Potter-Schwartz (22:34) and April Weeks (22:51) scored for the Clippers.

Morgan Bell of STA won the race in 21:17.

UNIFIED SOCCER

Londonderry 5, Portsmouth 3

PORTSMOUTH -- The Clippers dropped to 2-2 on the season with the loss to undefeated Londonderry.

Xzavier Miller scored two goals for the Clippers, while Fabian Velasco, Derek Baer and Ellis Guijarro played well on defense.
