Hugo Ball Essay
An artist by the name of Hugo Ball, who was a crucial figure in constructing the foundations of
Dadaism, created performance pieces that is now one of the well known characteristics of what
expresses the Dada movement . Ball s poetry performances were in a way, a response to the
audacities of what WWI had presenting the world with. According to Demos, Hugo Ball found that
language was deeply discredited due to its use as propaganda that justified war, and continued to
express that [t]he journalistic and political abuses of language... [meant that it] must be dismantled
and reconstructed anew . That being stated, it can be assumed that his nonsensical poems, in
Karawane at the Cabaret Voltaire in 1916 can be understood as an extrapolation... Show more

One of the more notable pieces in the exhibition was one created by Marcel Duchamp, an artist who
worked with found objects, which was a prominent characteristic and medium that began New York
Dada art. He used objects that were coined as ready made , where he uses an item that people
would see in their ordinary lives and presents it as a piece of art without alterations. An example
of a ready made object would be Duchamp s Bottle Rack. Another word that fluttered around the
Dadaists was the assisted ready made , which the objects are altered in some way, where it is
transformed in a way where it could no longer be of practical use, but an art piece instead. An
example by Duchamp would be his Bicycle Wheel. Other artists have also taken the aspect of
turning an everyday object into one that would be deemed useless, such as Man Ray s Cadeau,
which was an iron that he added tacks onto. He implied two different things; one being that there is
a danger of heat from the iron and that there is also the danger of the sharp tacks. Artists of this
time were using utilitarian objects that may have not been seen as aesthetically pleasing to the
majority of people s views, and turning them into an art

Definition Of Forgiveness
Can justice and forgiveness go hand in hand? Can a man with the lust for blood and revenge
punish and forgive his indicted villain? As much as we would love to think that it s possible to
punish and forgive, we would only be clouding our judgement when we know full well that we
cannot have both. To forgive means to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an
offense, flaw, or mistake. Justicemeans the action of punishing or correcting something or someone
that is not behaving according to what is morally right and fair. In the definition of forgiveness, it
states that you are letting go of your anger, while the definition of justice says that it the action of
using your anger to punish someone. If you punish someone for a... Show more content on

I, however, know that that statement is wrong; forgiveness can happen without justice and vice
versa. In The Forgiveness Project, there was a man named Eric Lomax, a British officer during
World War II, was captured by the Japanese and was sent to a prisoner of war camp where he was
tortured by a man named Takashi Nagase. When Eric got out of the camp that filled his days
with torment and suffering, there was a part of him that did not come back with him; his family
noticed the change in his heart and it almost scared them. As each day passed, Eric s heart grew
darker, hungry for the justice of his tormentor, Takashi. One day, his wife found him and heard
the regret and sadness in his heart; he wanted to apologize to Eric for all the wrong he had done
to him. Eric went to one of the old camps and saw Takashi. After all these years, his abuser was
standing right in front of him asking for forgiveness. Eric expected to be filled with rage and
anger, but he ended up forgiving Takashi for his deeds and they became good friends until death
parted them. Eric did not expect to forgive his tormentor, much like none of us except to forgive
those who wronged us.
Our actions are driven by emotions but not all of them are same for everyone else. Forgiveness can
be driven by love, family, friendship, loneliness, and even empathy, revenge is only driven by
anger. In Simon Birch, a special boy named Simon

Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Essay
Chantal Fauconier
Jane Austen, a writer in 19th Century England, wrote about what she knew; namely the societal
norms of her era and class. In a time where men were given all the status and privileges, she wrote
novels predominantly about women, their position in society, and the roles that they played. Since
women were not entitled to property, they would often grow up with the goal of finding a suitable
husband
(Guidelines 1990:1). It is for this reason that people have criticised
Jane Austen s writings saying that she reinforced the norms of patriarchy by reassuring the reader
about the order and stability of society. However her novels contain more than this in that her
characters often go against the conventional norms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, when Mr. Collins arrogantly tells Elizabeth that My situation in life, my connections
with the family of De Bourgh, and my relationship to your own are circumstances highly in my
favour ... it is by no means certain that another offer of marriage may ever be made to you
(Austen1990: 97 98), she politely refused saying I thank you again and again for the honour you
have done me in your proposals, but to accept them is absolutely impossible. My feelings in every
respect forbid it (Austen 1990: 98).
Mr. Collins was shocked by her refusal as he expected her to conform to the societal conventions.
This is one instance of rebellion versus conformity in the novel.
Elizabeth s rebellion (and insistence of going against the conventional reasons for marrying) is
contrasted with Charlotte s conformity. Charlotte accepts Mr. Collin s proposal as she is twenty
seven and needs to secure her financial stability, knowing that another proposal might not come.
Charlotte therefore, unlike
Elizabeth, married for money and not for love (Newton in Clark 1994:
131). Elizabeth thus sought her future husband with regards to how she felt about him and rebels
against the expectations of society.
Therefore, Unlike Charlotte, Elizabeth will not violate

from what was known yesterday and much of life lived in the past has been forgotten. A life

Descriptive Essay On My Best Friend
Having a best friend is like having a second being to share your every movement and emotion
with. They are there for you in your saddest and happiest moments. They give you the truest
opinions, but will support you no matter what you decide to do. Once you become close enough
with a person to call them your best friend, you unconsciously begin having identical likes and
dislikes. You become inseparable, spending most of you days either hanging out or whining to
them about any bothersome matter that you come across. Those are some of the characteristics
of being true close friends. You never want them to be in harms way because you have
developed a bond to that individual and realized what an amazing person they are. Trust me
when I tell you, I never wanted to see my best friend of four years get hurt but when you are put
in a situation like mine, it was bound to happen one way or another. One of the biggest
dilemmas I have encountered was deciding what to tell my close friend and what not to for her
own good. I would never have thought I would have to choose between my best friend s trust or
her happiness. As a freshman I, like most rookies in high school, was a very bashful yet cheery
young girl. I had chunky square glasses that where noticeably unproportional to my face, almost
completely encased my eyes. Being outgoing was one of my strong suits however, I could just as
easily switch to being overly introverted depending on who was surrounding me. I had an

Disney s Influence On Children
In 2013 Frozen made $1,274,234,980 at the worldwide box office. However, a billion dollars is
only a small example of Disney s influence. Disney has eleven princesses that influence children,
especially young girls, internationally. In figures 1a and 1b, the chart shows that about 93% of
participants watch Disney princess movies. Even with a large influence on the world, many
critics have questioned if Disney s movies have enough diversity. As a college student in a
school committed to diversity, I have wondered about Disney s diversity as well. In an online
survey provided through links on Facebook, the 45 participants were asked their opinion of
Disney Princess movies. The participants were also asked to evaluate racial diversity, if the
accuracy of the current examples of diversity, and how they would rank diversity in Disney
movies. Along with the subject questions, the participates were asked to provide answers to
demographic questions; such as age, sex, and racial identity. The questions in the survey were
asked with hopes of understanding how Disney s audience feels about diversity and how it
corresponds with their own identity. The data of the survey was collected through convenience

Examples Of Rhetorics In Fast Food Nation
When using rhetoric tenets, writers can create arguments that are very effective or ineffective at
persuading an audience. This is seen in Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation in which he uses
the three rhetoric tenets to better assure his claim of fast food but also use the rhetoric tenets
ineffectively in an argument. By using these rhetorical ideas, his writing is very persuasive at
points but also left unsuccessful at other times. The use of ethos in Fast Food Nation is seen many
times to help Schlosser appeal as credible and trustworthy while ensuring that he knows what he is
talking about which adds persuasive flow to the argument. One use of effective ethos is when
Schlosser talks about the McDonald s Corporation taking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This takes away from the main impact of the claims and doesn t help to strengthen his argument.
His use of ethos strengthens his arguments throughout times in the book but some of the research
makes his claims longer and harder to follow which takes away from the main argument he is
trying to portray. Schlosser s use of logos is also seen in a variety of ways in the book. During
the argument about advertisements and corporate sponsors for school materials in school districts,
he states, A 1998 study of these teaching materials by the Consumers Union found that 80 percent
were biased, providing students with incomplete or slanted information that favored the sponsor s
products and views (55). Schlosser s use of logos is effective because the facts and statistics giving
an overwhelming factor on how biased fast food corporations are towards the youth, even when
giving them school supplies. Schlosser uses this example because it shows that fast food
corporations want to persuade children at a young age, which adds sympathy for the youth and
hatred towards the big fast food chains. However, there are times when Schlosser s use of logos
does not completely help the argument. When talking about sanitation crews at meat packing
plants, Schlosser looks to build an argument on how sanitation jobs are unsafe for the workers. He
states, Although official statistics are not kept, the death rate among slaughterhouse sanitation
crews is extraordinarily high

Gandhi s Life and Legacy Throughout the course of history there have been many influential
leaders that have stressed the use of non violence and civil disobedience including Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi. Gandhi was a very influential and inspiring leader that was able to lead
billions of people. He was willing to give up everything for what he believed in even though he
knew that his actions could possibly lead to imprisonment and other legal consequences. Gandhi s
bravery and perseverance led to changes that affected and influenced the whole world and brought
about positive change for people whose voices would have went unheard. Mohandas Karamchand
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Kathiawar, India. Gandhi s father was the
chief minister in different parts of India and his mother was very devoted to religion. Gandhi
followed in both of his parents footsteps by devoting himself to religion and later pursuing an
education and career in the law field. Also, at the age of thirteen he had an arranged marriage to a
girl named Kasturba Makanji. After his marriage, Gandhi rebelled against his mother and stopped
practicing Jainism and worshipping the Hindu God Vishnu. Jainism is an ancient religion in India
that is based on morals and it stresses non violence, fasting, meditation and vegetarianism (Mahatma
Gandhi). Later in life, Gandhi traveled to London, England to study law and he

The Importance Of Action In Advocacy
Action in Advocacy
To advocate for the standardization of educational requirements a tactical advocacy framework
utilizing Group Formulation is necessary to develop groups with the same goal (Stachowiak,
2013). Choosing group formulation as an advocacy strategy aligns with my leadership philosophy
of servant leadership and ACA value of practicing in an ethical manner. I feel a need to fill a
leadership gap and find a way to assist the organization with being an agent of change, even if this
means running for an elected office in an association.
If I were elected the President of AASCB, I will have to maintain an ethical balance between the

The process will take some time, as I will need to attend licensure board meetings to understand the
culture of the boards. Understanding the culture of the board will guide me towards the best
approach to recommend changes in current regulations. Utilizing the servant leadership approach, I
will invite other AASCB members with interest in standardizing the educational standards to attend
licensure board meetings and meetings. Incorporating other members of the group will empower
them to serve as leaders in their mesosystem, and creating a larger group of interested parties.
Funding
Advocacy is often seen as people speaking out for a compelling cause and the funding is often
overlooked. Oklahoma like other states is in a budget crisis and changing standards will have
ripple effects down to the microlevel, requiring schools in the state to obtain accreditation. The
acceptance of CACREP accredited education as the standard will make the credit requirements
obsolete and require programs to seek accreditation. This program impacts every level of
professional counseling, it is necessary to identify an appropriate funding source to promote and
implement the changes to standards at the state board level. Prior to presenting the issue to the
leader of the licensure board, I will ensure I outline sources of funding for this initiative.
The U.S. Department of Education is a useful source for funding of higher education

48 football fields. Not monthly, not even daily. 48 football fields worth of tropical rainforest is
cut down every single minute. This adds up to about 46 58 thousand square miles per year. 58
thousand square miles of the already narrow belt of tropical forests stretching around the equator.
These are forests of amazing diversity and productivity. Forests that may cover only 7% of the
land s surface here on Earth, but harbor more than half of all species and play a massive part in
maintaining the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere and regulating our climate. Advocates for
the preservation of these forests state that deforestation has devastating consequences including
social conflict, extinction of plants and animals, and dangerous climate changes, and that local
deforestation in these forests are causing damages that aren t just local, but global. While
opponents claim that tropical forests are destined to diminish as it is necessary for the growing
human population to clear the natural landscape to make room for farms and pastures, to harvest
timber for construction and fuel, to build roads and urban areas and to develop the economies of
the often poor countries that surround the equator. Recent research has however repeatedly proven
these statements wrong. Showing how the human population have no desperate need to cut down
these forests, and that we are in fact more prone to make our own situation worse when we do.

My Favorite Coach
I have had many coaches throughout my life, some coaches have been good other not so good. My

favorite coach I have ever had was my high school soccer coach. He is different from all the

My freshman year of high school Coach Specht was the assistant soccer coach, at tryouts he told

That year we had twelve seniors and it was there last chance to play in front of the fans at home.
At that time I was mad because I just loved to play and hated sitting but I understand why he did it.
The next season we improved a lot as a team because coach Specht made adjustments and fixed
the problems we had the year before. That s what makes him a great coach because he was
willing to adapt and be open minded to other ways of playing. Also he would ask the players
what they thought about things, that is something I really liked because the players see the
game different than the coaches. Before every game he would ask me what I thought about the
lineup and what our game plan should be in the game. If we were having a bad game or if things
weren t going the right way, I would be the first person he would come to find out what we need
to fix. Having a coach that trusts a player this much is rare most coaches don t listen to what the
players have to say.

mother had breast cancer and soccer was the only way for me to get it off my mind. I m just
thankful for my coaches and teammates for helping get through one of the toughest times in my
life. Coach Specht was there for the whole time making sure I was alright. Even after the soccer

Finding Nemo Father
In a large variety of media, characters face both internal and external conflicts, an everyday
occurrence that is experienced by all. Typically, protagonists are given a superficial challenge to
overcome. However, as the story progresses, some characters undergo an unforeseen expedition
within themselves. Classic movies, such as Finding Nemo, exhibit this common phenomenon.
Finding Nemo follows the quest of a clownfish as he embarks on the journey to find his son. Even
though Marlin originally sought out to locate his lost child, he soon began his internal journey of
trust.
Marlin, one of the protagonists, is the standard overprotective parent. He most likely inherited his
vigilant behaviors following the tragic incident of losing a great portion of his family. One night,
Marlin and his wife were attacked by a barracuda, leaving Marlin unconscious. When he woke up,
he discovered that both his wife Coral and the majority of their eggs had vanished, with the
exception of Nemo. The son, being Marlin s only source of family, formed a strong and slightly ...

low so with an increase in spending it could definitely generate more attraction and promote
Kingsford charcoal as the better alternative.
Thirdly, option is to strategically adjust the prices of their products because consumers are often
very price sensitive. By doing so the company can either create more value that defines the quality

Lastly, the company suggest to expand their current inventory through increasing production and

Single Soldier Monologue
I remember the day that I was introduced to you. I remember crying and worrying about my
future. I hated knowing of your existence. You always followed me wherever I went. I always

yet you remained unaffected by my actions. You and I live in a constant state of war, but
somehow you don t even need a single soldier to fight. I struggle and strive to overcome you, and
yet you only sit and wait in the shadows, for my ever prevalent defeat. I hate you. You exist to

Positive And Sociocultural Environments In The Development...
The development of children has been a focus of the higher education field since the creation of
the field. When taking responsibility for educating the future generations, those leading the field
must seek to have a mastery of all knowledge in regards to development of children to present the
best education possible. One of the aspects of development influencers that has become
increasingly important to recognize and learn about in the last decade are sociocultural
environments. It is widely recognized by professionals that the socio cultural context plays a
dramatic role in the development of children throughout their lives. Both positive and negative
influencing factors contribute to the development of the child. The vast majority of a child s socio
cultural context have potential a negative impact on the child, however if there is support from
caring individuals in the child s life, there is a chance that child can rise above the negative
influences and develop into a well adjusted adult.
Many individuals are not aware that they are aware of how sociocultural environments play a roll
in children s development. A popular narrative that many sports fans learn about is how famous
boxing trainer Cus D Amato turned the life of a young man named Mike Tysonaround and saved
him from a life of poverty and crime. What these fans may not recognize is that they learned about
how sociocultural environments affect children. Tyson was raised by a single African American

The Three Patriarchs In The Book Of Genesis
Many readers of Genesis might think God s relationships with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be the
most significant in the entire book. These three patriarchs are, in fact, very important because they
accept and preserve the covenant and pass it on to their future generations. However, Joseph makes
his relationship with Godmore unique and current by living out the covenant with other human
beings and not solely with God. When readers only focus on the other patriarchs relationships as
the most important interactions, they fail to recognize Joseph transferring the covenant from a God
to human relationship, to a relationship between humans. This essay will show how Genesis
portrays Joseph as a patriarch who acts out God s will for humans. Joseph s... Show more content on

In chapter 27 of Genesis, Jacob fools Isaac and takes Esau s blessing. This act of deception by
Jacob is done for selfish gain. He does not trust God s plan for him. God does not instantly
correct Jacob, however, in chapter 32 God battles with Jacob to restore his faith, And he saw that
he had not won out against him and he touched his hip socket and Jacob s hip socket was
wrenched as he wrestled him . Here Jacob is converted by God because he did not have faith in
God s plan for him. He is also being affected because of his dishonesty. Jacob s relationship with
God can be viewed as a struggle from the wrestling match moreover, Jacob s new name is Israel,
which means one who struggles with God . Joseph on the other hand does not quarrel with God
because his relationship with God is reliable and hopeful. When Joseph finally reveals his true
identity he explains that he followed God s plan, And, now do not be pained and do not be
incensed with yourselves that you sold me down here, because for sustenance God has sent me
before you...And God has sent me before you to make you a remnant on earth and to preserve
life, for you to be a great surviving group . As he addresses his brothers, Joseph tells them not to
be angry because he was hopeful of God s intentions. Joseph is different from Jacob and the other
patriarchs because he does not aggravate God

Drug Cartels gauge their actions based on this criteria. This paper explores the history of drugs,
both legal and illegal, the profitability of both the legal industry and illegal enterprise. It will also
look at what is being done to combat the illegal aspect of the issue as well what is being done to
keep the margins up and the coffers filled. Drugs, illegal and legal, have been a part of the history
of the United States for almost three centuries. From the time when the 19th century began,
Americans went from alcohol as the preferred mood altering substance to a new realm of addiction.
During this time Americans were acquaint with wonder drugs such as morphine, heroin, and
cocaine. Since that discovery, our society has confronted the problems of drug abuse and addiction
(DEA, 2015). Once the 20th century began, the United States, contending with its first drug
epidemic in the country s short history, progressively started effective limitations to combat the
epidemic. In the United States through internal law enforcement they began to fight the issue
domestically. Through cooperation and sometimes without the United States began spearheading
a world crusade to limit opium and coca crops (DEA, 2015). By World War II, the use of drugs in
America had declined significantly enough for it to no longer be considered a significant issue. It
was then seen as a borderline social problem and pushed

Capital Punishment and Methods of Execution
Capital Punishment Thirty two out of the fifty states in the United States of America accommodate
to the death sentence, with Virginia being the one of the largest contributors following that of
Texas. In 1976, the death sentence was reinstated by the Supreme Court; this produced the
outcome of Texas holding the largest number of executions within all the states. Every year, people
are brutally killed by inhumane methods of death. Who s to say whether another person has the
right to live or not? By taking the life of another, is to play God. In spite of the fact that some find
it to be unethical taking another man s life, about 70% of the public agree with the continuation of
the death penalty.
Methods of execution include lethal injection; being the first option for most, electrocution, gas
chamber, hanging, and lastly by firing squad; which is only legal in two states, Oklahoma and
Utah; however is it only used if lethal injection is deemed unconstitutional. Many Countries support
this ideal; however, there are those who greatly oppose of it. According to the writers on
Religioustolerance.org, Some countries, such as Italy, routinely refuse to extradite accused
murderers to the US because of the possibility that they might be executed. Canada originally
refused to extradite suspected mass murderer Charles Ng to California for a trial. The government

him to accomplish many great things. King s writing started from a very early age. a He

its positions. The Bureau employs thirty employees. Of these thirty employees, only eleven are
considered full time and permanent. The core positions at the BBB, which include dispute
resolution analyst positions, mediators, and dispute services positions, are filled 100 percent by
employees that are not full time. The disadvantages of relying so heavily on these types of

workers have high attrition rates. These workers are more apt to leaving their present employment

Deregulation Of Energy Essay
The United States is in the middle of one of the biggest wealth transfers of wealth it has ever
seen since the deregulation of long distance calling. This shift in wealth is seen in the
deregulation of energy. What is energy? Energy can be described multiple ways but for the
purposes of deregulation, energy is defined as power that is transferred from the environment and
converted into electricity and gas to be used for electricity and heating. How does it work? Local
utility companies own the grids that bring power to buildings. Prior to the new regulations, they
would buy the gas and/or electricity from a source that produces for an undisclosed price, provide
the building energy, then charge the responsible party for that energy. Considering... Show more

With deregulation, consumers are now allowed to pick who the utility company purchases
energy from. The utility company still owns the grids and still brings the energy to the building.
The consumer can now choose which company based on lowest price. Competition within any
industry drives prices down which means savings for the consumer and a more level playing
field for up and coming producers. How does this translate into wealth transferring? These
unknown companies that produce energy need help with marketing. A lot of them have
positioned themselves with direct sales companies to do this instead of spending large amounts
of money on an advertisements and employees specializing in sales. The direct sales associates
will acquire customers for the companies and in return, the companies pay a commission on the
monthly bill from the consumer. The energy company does not have to pay a salary to
employees to make cold calls and go door to door. Payments are only made after the sale. It s a
win/win situation. The deregulation of energy in the United States is beneficial to all who use it,
which is everyone. Consumers get to save money. Utility companies are kept honest. Smaller
companies are able to broaden their customer base which maintain job stability. Normal people, not
just employees, are able to earn commission from acquiring customers for energy

All you hear about is I want to be this or I want to be that, but I was sitting there wondering what

Activation Rate Law
Abstract. The objective of this work was to determine the activation energy and rate law for the
reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium shot. An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at
varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of
initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was
hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the
activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place.
Using the rate constants calculated at the two different temperatures, the activation energy was
calculated. It was found, experimentally through the method of... Show more content on

One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the
reaction because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick
enough. Not being able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law
because the graph of pressure versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in
which the reactants could be mixed with the pressure probe already in place would yield much
more accurate results because the change in pressure would be higher which would cause the
initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in the experiment was keeping the temperature of
the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of the HCl changed from when it was
measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy calculations would have had
increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the actual temperature was
colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been lowered. For future
experiments, the temperature of the HCl should be recorded as soon to when the Mg shot is added
as possible, or the experiment could be run in a temperature controlled

Commodity Derivatives: An Introduction
Commodity derivatives markets have been in presence for a considerable length of time, driven by
the endeavors of producers, users and speculators(investors) to deal with their business and financial
risks.
Producers need to deal with the exposure to changes in the prices they get for their commodities.
They are generally centered around accomplishing the same impact as fixed prices on contracts to
offer their produce.
End users want and need to fence the costs at which they can buy commodities. A clinic
framework might need to alter the cost at which it buys power for air conditioning during the
summer. An aircraft needs to secure in the cost of the jet fuel it needs to buy in order to manage the
peak season demand.
In the meantime, investors and financial intermediaries can either buy or sell commodities using
derivatives. They put capital that is crucial to encouraging the business of the producer and of the
end user. They stand prepared to execute with these market participants; without them, producers
and end users couldn t fence their

Climate Change And Its Effects On The World Today
It is known climate change is occurring because of multiple factors, including greenhouse gases,
human activity, and some scientists say solar irradiance. What most people do not know or
simply have not thought of is how far back in history was climate change a problem or if it was
an issue for early civilizations. It is apparent that early civilizations weakened for several reasons,
but one reason in particular is affecting the world today. One particular civilization that is popular
for their agricultureare the Mayans. The Maya empire occupied land that is now Guatemala. They

This method was used because it efficiently removed unwanted parasites and plant in the rich
soil. Not only slash and burn increases climate change, but also was a problem after 2 3 years of
using the soil, it would erode and reduce the nutrients, resulting in insufficient growth of crops.
After the soil erodes, the process was repeated, but in a different area. It is an effective method if
practiced by smaller land and a smaller population. Since the population of the Mayan empire
expanded, more trees were needed to provide essential needs. The endless cycle of slash and burn
increasingly became severe for the Mayans. The lack of trees allowed greater amounts of CO2 to
be released into the atmosphere. The top country that has the highest deforestation is Brazil.
Deforestation not only opposes a threat to the climate and habitat loss, it also causes problems for
people living in Brazil and other countries near Brazil. Mass deforestation can put these people at
risk of losing their livelihood. Soil erosion can add waste into drinking water systems making the
water non drinkable. Burning trees add carbon dioxide to our atmosphere and removing trees
lowers the number of trees available to transform carbon dioxide into oxygen. Deforestation
continues the effect of global warming in this way. A disruption in the water cycle can have a

The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
The Indian Removal Act of 1830, championed by President Andrew Jackson, called for the
relocation of numerous native American tribes to lands west of the Mississippi River to land for
white settlers. Although the bill was extremely controversial, it was passed, and entire Indian tribes
were forced to move. Due to the hardship and suffering the Indian Removal Act of 1830 caused
Indian peoples, as well as the fact that it was unnecessary, unconstitutional, and immoral, it should
not have been passed. Firstly, the negative effects of the bill on native Americans far outweighed
the benefits it might have had for second people. Secondly, the bill violated numerous treaties
between the U.S. government and Indian tribes and was thus unconstitutional. Lastly, the bill was
immoral due to the fact that Indian leaders were not allowed a voice in their own future and the
inherent racism involved in the decision.
One of the main arguments opponents of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 voiced was that, at its
most basic level, the removal bill was not necessary. The main purpose of the act was to provide
more land for an increasing population of white American citizens; more land, the government
believed, would help expand the American economy. Proponents of the bill, such as President
Andrew Jackson (who ratified the act), claimed that the land occupied by the Indians would be put
to better use as part of our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and all the improvements
which art can devise... . However, while those who supported the bill used nationalistic attitudes to
justify their position, others found that removing the Indian peoples was not necessary to achieve
economic growth. As Massachusetts Congressman Edward Everett and others emphasized, it was
possible for white settlers to thrive while leaving Cherokee peoples on the land that was rightfully
theirs; it was greed, not necessity, that motivated the people to demand more land. The removal bill
should not have been passed because although the white population benefitted from the removal of
the Indians, this benefit was not worth the hardship the Indians endured as a result. The benefit of
white citizens should not have been prioritized over the well being

The Hysterectomy Of Abortion
A hysterectomy is when an abortionist permanently removes the entire uterus and the baby with the
intent to kill the baby. Third trimester abortions are the same procedures as those performed in the
second trimester, but the United States only allows abortions after twenty four for medical reasons.
Abortion is one of the most controversial debate in the world today. The reason that this is such a
hard topic to solve is because of one simple question. When does life begin? The answer to that
question would end the debate of whether abortion should be considered murder or not. Viability
is currently the legal determining factor of when life begins. However, a baby shows signs of life
even before it is viable outside of the womb.
At five weeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This begins at five weeks. If a baby is killed after five weeks, it should be considered murder.
When someone is shot and their heart never stops beating, it is called attempted murder, but if
the victim s heart stops beating, it is classified as a homicide. When a woman decides to abort
her child after five weeks, she is stopping the heart of a human being. Abortionists argue that
even if a baby has a heartbeat, it could not live outside of the womb until it is around twenty five
weeks, therefore it is not murder to kill someone that would not survive anyway. That is the
same as killing someone who is terminally ill just because they are not going to survive. A four
year old also cannot live on his own without a safe environment and nutrients, just as a baby
cannot survive without the safety and nutrition of the mother s womb. Does that mean it is okay
to kill a four year old too? Abortion will always be a debatable topic, so listen to your heart, the one
that has been beating inside of you since you were five weeks old, because it will help you make

Theories Of Employee Retention
Here in the United States, there has been an emerging issue that has challenged management within
the workforce. That issue is simply put is employee retention. With so many at will employment
options out there, fierce competition amongst business and those businesses looking to operate
more efficiently with less staff, employee retention has become an issue. So we have to ask
ourselves how do we combat this issue? This issue is a very complex one here in America because
of the melting pot we are with cultures, beliefs, structures, restrictions, affirmative action and etc.
Throughout our studies the research has shown that thriving organizations will be the ones that

Fourth would be how to overcome low motivation. With these factors, ideas of how to communicate
the plan within the organization must be implemented. The Sheriff has hired an expert advisor in
the field of Effective law enforcement organizational planning when understaffed to achieve the
aforementioned. For the purpose of this paper let s say that I will be this expert.
One of the key factors for retention strategy and hiring of new employees goes far and beyond a
competitive benefits package and salary. However the latter is very much so important and
would need to be addressed. After brief study of surrounding law enforcement agencies I have
come to the conclusion that MCSO is behind a little when it comes to compensation and benefits.
The neighboring county of Palm Beach has a starting salary of $47,220 for law enforcement
positions (Sentinel, A. R. 2014). This is approximately a full $7,000 more than MCSO s starting
salary. Not to mention the Fire Department within Martin County has a starting salary around
$48,000. In my professional opinion public service is public service and both the fire department
and sheriff s office fall under this umbrella. There needs to be more parity here because it seems to
be a common complaint amongst the employees of the sheriff s office which negatively affects
motivation and morale.
Research suggest that employees rank recognition, flexibility and training as top priorities for

Nt1310 Unit 3 Simulation Analysis Paper
Abstract In the last decades, the different IPs were developed and integrated within single chip.
The designers were getting lot of issues to verify the chips due to cumbersome of all modules in
the IPs. To overcome from such issues, the new technology has been developed. The designer
started to develop each module in IP design file. Once it is verified then all modules were
combined in single IP and integrated in the chip. Then designer was uploading all IP in a single
chip. So the designer can avoid unexpected outputs from the chip. One important problem in the
vlsi design is, designer could not be able to find the board level errors in the simulation analysis.

Although there are no specific oral manifestations associated with autism spectrum disorder, many
authors have found the prevalence of dental caries and of periodontitis to be no different

Steps Of The Plan Do Check Act ( Pdca ) Cycle
PDCA Outline
Plan
The first step of the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) cycle is plan. The planning step of the cycle is
extremely important and crucial to the success of the project. I undertook this exact issue as a
process improvement project early on in my career and already went through the exercise of
analyzing the account activity and assigning a risk score to each and every balance sheet account. At
the time, there were 854 individual balance sheet accounts that needed reconciled. Currently this
count has grown to 1,047, which means that an additional 193 accounts would need analyzed. The
plan for this project now needs to consist of cursory review of the previously assigned accounts
and a more in depth analysis of the additional 193 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no reason to waste resources reconciling an account that is no longer being used. The next
step of 5S that is beneficial to the process is straightening. The accounts should be straightened into
broader categories, rather than looking that them individually, which saves time and is more
efficient. For instance, all cash accounts should be grouped and analyzed together, as they will be
handled the same. The work is not done when the sorting and straightening has been completed,
nonetheless. The newly sorted and straightened list should continue to be shined, another step of
5S, on a routine basis to make sure there are no changes. As previously mentioned, the controller
reserves the right to adjust the reconciliation priority at any time. New accounts are likely to be
created that will need sorted and straightened and other accounts will also go inactive. 5S is an
ongoing process and the sustainability is one of the S s. The final S stands for standardize. The
account reconciliation process should be standardized. Standardization and uniformity in the
reconciliation process and the reconciliation work papers add to the quality of the review. It is
much easier for a reviewer or auditor to check reconciliations that are prepared in a consistent
fashion.
Do
The Do step of the PDCA cycle is where the action of the project really happens. The new
reconciliation schedule is implemented during this stage. As previously mentioned some accounts
will continue to be

The air, heavy with the morning fog, parts around the three figures like still water around a hull.
Crunching rocks and barnacles under boots disrupt the thick silence of the morning, the sharp

The more time I spent around theater, the more I realized that, at it s heart, theater is not about
skill. It is not about how well you act or if you can do a killer French accent. At it s heart, theater
is a state of being. It is about accepting everyone and giving them a place to call home. It is about

Theater taught me, as backwards as it may sound, to not be afraid of my fears. It taught me that I

Could you ever imagine, your closest friend or family member waking up with a mental illness?
What if it became your responsibility to take care of them? Could you handle the challenges that
come with a job like that? Now just think of a newspaper columnist trying to change the life of a
complete stranger, with a mental illness. To any other American, this is something that seems
totally out of the ordinary. No one would go out of their way to help a mentally ill man that is
also homeless. But one man did, and his name is Steve Lopez. He took on the job of helping
mentally ill man named Nathaniel Ayers. Nathaniel has schizophrenia, which is brain disorder that
affects the way person reviews reality. He is a very talented musician, and that s what lead Steve
to Nathaniel in the first place. Steve never thought that he would become so attached to Nathaniel,
who was once a complete stranger. This story is very moving and important to the mentally ill and
homeless community. But the story and the movie are told in two different ways. Steve lopez

The book explains the in depth moment of when Nathaniel lost his temper and attacked Steve, and
the movie also captured that moment. It may have not been exact but it did show enough visually,
how that moment was a key part of the book and movie. The actor that played Steve Lopez, Robert

Deaeration
Prior to pasteurization, orange juice is deaerated because the presence of dissolved oxygen effects
on color, flavor and most importantly vitamin C. One of the key steps of orange juice processing is
deaeration since vitamin C has high sensitivity of oxygen. Removing air from orange juice
provides to minimize oxidative reactions such as oxidation of ascorbic acid and flavor
compounds, and also to decrease corrosion if the package of juice is made of metal. In addition
to this point, the ascorbic acid content of orange juice is also affected by high oxygen
permeability containers. Another negative effect of oxygen is giving a brown color. During
orange juice processing there are some possibilities of entraining air during pumping, mixing and
tank filling. The product quality can be improved by vacuum deaerator Figure 11. The capacity of
the equipment is 3 tons/hour. Residual O2 levels below 0.5 1.0 mg/L depending on product. Figure

Assessment Mackenzie Robinson In 13 Reasons Why By Jay Asher
Unit 2 : AssessmentMackenzie Robinson The book I read for this unit was 13 Reasons Why by

well know, but that is not really who she is. All the different events that have happened , have
formed her reputation. The events and stories about her are all made up. Everyone thinks they
are all true, her reputation is ruined. All the kids at her school continue to think she does stuff
with boys, herself and even girls so they start to make up more stuff that has come from short
clips they see and make it a whole video and add details in themselves. Hannah s problem and the
problem of the book was Hannah being bullied. Her solution took a long time and she was never
really sure until the end of the problems. She never had this thought until an event that triggered
her to think this. She just went along with all the bullying and all the rumors spread. She didn t
want to kill herself in a painful way. After her thought of suicide, she made the choice to make
cassette tapes. Seven of them all but the seventh one with using both side. That counts for 13 tapes

  • 2. Hugo Ball Essay An artist by the name of Hugo Ball, who was a crucial figure in constructing the foundations of Dadaism, created performance pieces that is now one of the well known characteristics of what expresses the Dada movement . Ball s poetry performances were in a way, a response to the audacities of what WWI had presenting the world with. According to Demos, Hugo Ball found that language was deeply discredited due to its use as propaganda that justified war, and continued to express that [t]he journalistic and political abuses of language... [meant that it] must be dismantled and reconstructed anew . That being stated, it can be assumed that his nonsensical poems, in Karawane at the Cabaret Voltaire in 1916 can be understood as an extrapolation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the more notable pieces in the exhibition was one created by Marcel Duchamp, an artist who worked with found objects, which was a prominent characteristic and medium that began New York Dada art. He used objects that were coined as ready made , where he uses an item that people would see in their ordinary lives and presents it as a piece of art without alterations. An example of a ready made object would be Duchamp s Bottle Rack. Another word that fluttered around the Dadaists was the assisted ready made , which the objects are altered in some way, where it is transformed in a way where it could no longer be of practical use, but an art piece instead. An example by Duchamp would be his Bicycle Wheel. Other artists have also taken the aspect of turning an everyday object into one that would be deemed useless, such as Man Ray s Cadeau, which was an iron that he added tacks onto. He implied two different things; one being that there is a danger of heat from the iron and that there is also the danger of the sharp tacks. Artists of this time were using utilitarian objects that may have not been seen as aesthetically pleasing to the majority of people s views, and turning them into an art ... • 3. Definition Of Forgiveness Can justice and forgiveness go hand in hand? Can a man with the lust for blood and revenge punish and forgive his indicted villain? As much as we would love to think that it s possible to punish and forgive, we would only be clouding our judgement when we know full well that we cannot have both. To forgive means to stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake. Justicemeans the action of punishing or correcting something or someone that is not behaving according to what is morally right and fair. In the definition of forgiveness, it states that you are letting go of your anger, while the definition of justice says that it the action of using your anger to punish someone. If you punish someone for a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I, however, know that that statement is wrong; forgiveness can happen without justice and vice versa. In The Forgiveness Project, there was a man named Eric Lomax, a British officer during World War II, was captured by the Japanese and was sent to a prisoner of war camp where he was tortured by a man named Takashi Nagase. When Eric got out of the camp that filled his days with torment and suffering, there was a part of him that did not come back with him; his family noticed the change in his heart and it almost scared them. As each day passed, Eric s heart grew darker, hungry for the justice of his tormentor, Takashi. One day, his wife found him and heard the regret and sadness in his heart; he wanted to apologize to Eric for all the wrong he had done to him. Eric went to one of the old camps and saw Takashi. After all these years, his abuser was standing right in front of him asking for forgiveness. Eric expected to be filled with rage and anger, but he ended up forgiving Takashi for his deeds and they became good friends until death parted them. Eric did not expect to forgive his tormentor, much like none of us except to forgive those who wronged us. Our actions are driven by emotions but not all of them are same for everyone else. Forgiveness can be driven by love, family, friendship, loneliness, and even empathy, revenge is only driven by anger. In Simon Birch, a special boy named Simon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Essay Chantal Fauconier Jane Austen, a writer in 19th Century England, wrote about what she knew; namely the societal norms of her era and class. In a time where men were given all the status and privileges, she wrote novels predominantly about women, their position in society, and the roles that they played. Since women were not entitled to property, they would often grow up with the goal of finding a suitable husband (Guidelines 1990:1). It is for this reason that people have criticised Jane Austen s writings saying that she reinforced the norms of patriarchy by reassuring the reader about the order and stability of society. However her novels contain more than this in that her characters often go against the conventional norms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, when Mr. Collins arrogantly tells Elizabeth that My situation in life, my connections with the family of De Bourgh, and my relationship to your own are circumstances highly in my favour ... it is by no means certain that another offer of marriage may ever be made to you (Austen1990: 97 98), she politely refused saying I thank you again and again for the honour you have done me in your proposals, but to accept them is absolutely impossible. My feelings in every respect forbid it (Austen 1990: 98). Mr. Collins was shocked by her refusal as he expected her to conform to the societal conventions. This is one instance of rebellion versus conformity in the novel. Elizabeth s rebellion (and insistence of going against the conventional reasons for marrying) is contrasted with Charlotte s conformity. Charlotte accepts Mr. Collin s proposal as she is twenty seven and needs to secure her financial stability, knowing that another proposal might not come. Charlotte therefore, unlike Elizabeth, married for money and not for love (Newton in Clark 1994: 131). Elizabeth thus sought her future husband with regards to how she felt about him and rebels against the expectations of society. Therefore, Unlike Charlotte, Elizabeth will not violate ... • 7. Machine Stops The True Value of Time and how it Affects humanity Time is precious, the one thing no one can control. In the story, Machine Stops, written by E. M. Forster, life today has changed drastically from what was known yesterday and much of life lived in the past has been forgotten. A life lived today revolves around the Machine that takes care of simple tasks by the click of a button, for anything else would be a waste of time. The meaning of age, the importance of ideas, the emotions that follow have all been pushed aside, once everything s been taken care of by the Machine. • 8. Descriptive Essay On My Best Friend Having a best friend is like having a second being to share your every movement and emotion with. They are there for you in your saddest and happiest moments. They give you the truest opinions, but will support you no matter what you decide to do. Once you become close enough with a person to call them your best friend, you unconsciously begin having identical likes and dislikes. You become inseparable, spending most of you days either hanging out or whining to them about any bothersome matter that you come across. Those are some of the characteristics of being true close friends. You never want them to be in harms way because you have developed a bond to that individual and realized what an amazing person they are. Trust me when I tell you, I never wanted to see my best friend of four years get hurt but when you are put in a situation like mine, it was bound to happen one way or another. One of the biggest dilemmas I have encountered was deciding what to tell my close friend and what not to for her own good. I would never have thought I would have to choose between my best friend s trust or her happiness. As a freshman I, like most rookies in high school, was a very bashful yet cheery young girl. I had chunky square glasses that where noticeably unproportional to my face, almost completely encased my eyes. Being outgoing was one of my strong suits however, I could just as easily switch to being overly introverted depending on who was surrounding me. I had an overwhelming ... In an online survey provided through links on Facebook, the 45 participants were asked their opinion of Disney Princess movies. The participants were also asked to evaluate racial diversity, if the accuracy of the current examples of diversity, and how they would rank diversity in Disney movies. Along with the subject questions, the participates were asked to provide answers to demographic questions; such as age, sex, and racial identity. The questions in the survey were asked with hopes of understanding how Disney s audience feels about diversity and how it corresponds with their own identity. • 10. Examples Of Rhetorics In Fast Food Nation When using rhetoric tenets, writers can create arguments that are very effective or ineffective at persuading an audience. This is seen in Eric Schlosser s book Fast Food Nation in which he uses the three rhetoric tenets to better assure his claim of fast food but also use the rhetoric tenets ineffectively in an argument. By using these rhetorical ideas, his writing is very persuasive at points but also left unsuccessful at other times. The use of ethos in Fast Food Nation is seen many times to help Schlosser appeal as credible and trustworthy while ensuring that he knows what he is talking about which adds persuasive flow to the argument. One use of effective ethos is when Schlosser talks about the McDonald s Corporation taking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This takes away from the main impact of the claims and doesn t help to strengthen his argument. His use of ethos strengthens his arguments throughout times in the book but some of the research makes his claims longer and harder to follow which takes away from the main argument he is trying to portray. Schlosser s use of logos is also seen in a variety of ways in the book. During the argument about advertisements and corporate sponsors for school materials in school districts, he states, A 1998 study of these teaching materials by the Consumers Union found that 80 percent were biased, providing students with incomplete or slanted information that favored the sponsor s products and views (55). Schlosser s use of logos is effective because the facts and statistics giving an overwhelming factor on how biased fast food corporations are towards the youth, even when giving them school supplies. Schlosser uses this example because it shows that fast food corporations want to persuade children at a young age, which adds sympathy for the youth and hatred towards the big fast food chains. However, there are times when Schlosser s use of logos does not completely help the argument. When talking about sanitation crews at meat packing plants, Schlosser looks to build an argument on how sanitation jobs are unsafe for the workers. He states, Although official statistics are not kept, the death rate among slaughterhouse sanitation crews is extraordinarily high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advocates for the preservation of these forests state that deforestation has devastating consequences including social conflict, extinction of plants and animals, and dangerous climate changes, and that local deforestation in these forests are causing damages that aren t just local, but global. While opponents claim that tropical forests are destined to diminish as it is necessary for the growing human population to clear the natural landscape to make room for farms and pastures, to harvest timber for construction and fuel, to build roads and urban areas and to develop the economies of the often poor countries that surround the equator. Recent research has however repeatedly proven these statements wrong. Using the rate constants calculated at the two different temperatures, the activation energy was calculated. It was found, experimentally through the method of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the reaction because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick enough. Not being able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law because the graph of pressure versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in which the reactants could be mixed with the pressure probe already in place would yield much more accurate results because the change in pressure would be higher which would cause the initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in the experiment was keeping the temperature of the trial in the ice bath consistent. • 40. The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830 The Indian Removal Act of 1830, championed by President Andrew Jackson, called for the relocation of numerous native American tribes to lands west of the Mississippi River to land for white settlers. Although the bill was extremely controversial, it was passed, and entire Indian tribes were forced to move. Due to the hardship and suffering the Indian Removal Act of 1830 caused Indian peoples, as well as the fact that it was unnecessary, unconstitutional, and immoral, it should not have been passed. Firstly, the negative effects of the bill on native Americans far outweighed the benefits it might have had for second people. Secondly, the bill violated numerous treaties between the U.S. government and Indian tribes and was thus unconstitutional. Lastly, the bill was immoral due to the fact that Indian leaders were not allowed a voice in their own future and the inherent racism involved in the decision. One of the main arguments opponents of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 voiced was that, at its most basic level, the removal bill was not necessary. The main purpose of the act was to provide more land for an increasing population of white American citizens; more land, the government believed, would help expand the American economy. Proponents of the bill, such as President Andrew Jackson (who ratified the act), claimed that the land occupied by the Indians would be put to better use as part of our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and all the improvements which art can devise... . However, while those who supported the bill used nationalistic attitudes to justify their position, others found that removing the Indian peoples was not necessary to achieve economic growth. As Massachusetts Congressman Edward Everett and others emphasized, it was possible for white settlers to thrive while leaving Cherokee peoples on the land that was rightfully theirs; it was greed, not necessity, that motivated the people to demand more land. The removal bill should not have been passed because although the white population benefitted from the removal of the Indians, this benefit was not worth the hardship the Indians endured as a result. The benefit of white citizens should not have been prioritized over the well being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Third trimester abortions are the same procedures as those performed in the second trimester, but the United States only allows abortions after twenty four for medical reasons. Abortion is one of the most controversial debate in the world today. The reason that this is such a hard topic to solve is because of one simple question. When does life begin? The answer to that question would end the debate of whether abortion should be considered murder or not. Viability is currently the legal determining factor of when life begins. If a baby is killed after five weeks, it should be considered murder. When someone is shot and their heart never stops beating, it is called attempted murder, but if the victim s heart stops beating, it is classified as a homicide. When a woman decides to abort her child after five weeks, she is stopping the heart of a human being. Abortionists argue that even if a baby has a heartbeat, it could not live outside of the womb until it is around twenty five weeks, therefore it is not murder to kill someone that would not survive anyway. That is the same as killing someone who is terminally ill just because they are not going to survive. A four year old also cannot live on his own without a safe environment and nutrients, just as a baby cannot survive without the safety and nutrition of the mother s womb. The accounts should be straightened into broader categories, rather than looking that them individually, which saves time and is more efficient. For instance, all cash accounts should be grouped and analyzed together, as they will be handled the same. The work is not done when the sorting and straightening has been completed, nonetheless. The newly sorted and straightened list should continue to be shined, another step of 5S, on a routine basis to make sure there are no changes. One of the key steps of orange juice processing is deaeration since vitamin C has high sensitivity of oxygen. Removing air from orange juice provides to minimize oxidative reactions such as oxidation of ascorbic acid and flavor compounds, and also to decrease corrosion if the package of juice is made of metal.
