Communities

A Community is a local group that consists of at least 10 people who share and promote the values of our international movement. The core principle underlying each community is that every person on the planet has the right to good, clean and fair food. Each community also unites around a specific objective, such as protecting and promoting a particular local food.

To create a community, members must sign a founding declaration in which they state:

• Their adherence to the ideals of Slow Food and the principles of the Chengdu Declaration;
• The objective the community has set itself in order to contribute to our movement’s vision in its local area;
• The activities, initiatives and projects the community plans to carry out to achieve its objective;
• The global project the community will support (such as Presidia, Ark of Taste, food gardens and campaigns) and its financial contribution.
• The community members and their email contacts.

Fulfil your annual donation

All Slow Food communities have committed to fulfil an annual contribution. We rely on Slow Food communities’ donations to keep Slow Food strong and independent.
