Denise Crosby Reunited With Old Friends at GENERAL HOSPITAL

Working in soaps may have been a new experience for actress Denise Crosby, but agreeing to take on the role of Carolyn Webber on GENERAL HOSPITAL, she was looking forward to seeing old friend Genie Francis (Laura). Not that it really worked out as she’d hoped!

“Genie and I have known each other for like, 25 years,” she told Soap Opera Digest. That goes all the way back to when Crosby starred as Lt. Tasha Yar on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION alongside Jonathan Frakes, who is Francis’ real-life husband.

“So I was really excited to see her at the studio,” Crosby explained, adding, “The show moves so quickly that when I ran into her, we could just give each other a hug and go, ‘Everything good? The family’s good? Okay, bye!’ We both laughed about it. She said, ‘Everything is so fast we can’t even catch up!’”

Thankfully, Crosby did find some time to sit down with Francis when neither of them had to be on set and they were able to catch up for a bit. And, in fact, she’s not the only soap legend that Crosby ran into on the GH set that she already knew!

“Finola Hughes (Anna), she and I go back, too,” she revealed. “In the ‘90s, she did a series called JACK’S PLACE and I did a guest star, and George Clooney, oddly enough, played my husband! I was walking down the hall and saw her talking to Genie and I came over and Finola said, ‘Oh my God, what are you doing here?!” and we hugged and laughed and it was really great. It was just a sweet little catch-up and later, she watched my scenes and she was very complimentary and kind. It was just a lovefest!”

Crosby may have wrapped her latest stint as Carolyn on GH, but who knows what the future may hold… or what other old friends she might run into in Port Charles!
