gemona del friuli

Gemona del Friuli, the largest territory in the Gemona area, in addition to being a town rich in history, is one of the municipalities encompassing areas that are geographically very different from each other: from the plain of the townships to the more hilly areas such as Stalis, and finally landing in more mountainous territories near the Julian Pre-Alps.
A disastrous earthquake in 1976 struck the town of Gemona, which was later completely rebuilt and became one of the symbols of the rebirth of the entire region. Nevertheless, a number of historic and interesting monuments still remain, such as the majestic Cathedral si Santa Maria Assunta, an exemplar of Gothic art.
Appointments not to be missed are the festivals organized in medieval style. Medieval August is a confirmation of this: the streets of the town are invaded with figures and displays that take us back to the period of the Middle Ages.
