It was born as a fishermen’s town and, today, fishing and anchovies salting are the most common jobs, together with the tourist industry. Although Agnone has excellent climate conditions all year long, it is a popular summer holiday resort. In the town centre, old mansions built of stone are side by side renovated houses; charming archways are the entries to the old fish salting workrooms. Among the places to visit there are Madonna del Carmine church and an ancient guard towers.
