Damn, that late 2000s - early 2010s era of DDR makes me feel nostalgic. There used to be a DDR X cab at John's Incredible Pizza in Buena Park I constantly visited. It always intimidated me so much but it sucks it's gone now (esp since I just got into rhythm games), I would've played it as a way to "conquer the fear" middle/high school me had :,)

Okay so there's this event it looks likes they're running, but instead of unlocking you can get these acrylic figurines of Emi and Yuni. Looks cool but I bet it's Japan exclusive (like everything Bemani franchise it seems like)

Technically, it is Japan-only, but you can use a proxy shipping service to send them anywhere (just FYI).

And that's assuming you win one at all (only 400 given out in total).

I would imagine that whether the original version was Extreme or USA didn't matter, since the SN internal hardware changed anyway. And such a hardware upgrade wouldn't have been cheap either. X also would have been a hardware change.

There isn't all that much exclusive to the gold cab, honestly. Legend Licenses were never expanded beyond the batch they put in A20, and Golden League rotates songs out of exclusivity every run. Gold cab is just seemingly Konami trying to get Japanese arcades to get rid of their older cabs (especially any that are still running in pre-X cabs).

It might seem that there's a lot more stuff exclusive to the gold cab from a US perspective, but that's because the lack of an online requirement for US MDX white cabs prevents us from getting new licenses (except when upgrade kits are involved), but they still end up on the gold cabs because those must be online.

Imagine my disappointment when I realized that Step This Way wasn't unlocked by default when I finally played A3 on a gold cab yesterday

Still requires being in GOLDEN LEAGUE for the time being, unfortunately. If they keep up the pattern of a new season each month, Step This Way will be playable by default in... September.

The good news is that if you have at least a Bronze GL rank, you'll be able to access GL Bronze reward songs outside of Gold cabs for the first time.
It still requires at least 1 play on a Gold cab during a GL event period, but at least you won't have to wait until September.

Does anyone else thing they might not add all of those Grand Prix song to A3? I really don't see Konami adding 14 songs (plus potential western licenses) in just one batch.

Still I hope they do, they should've added Double Tornard to an AC game a loooooooooong time ago

I wish they added Rampage Rag too just to see if they'd make a very gimmicky chart lmao

Considering what they did with AI, I'm willing to bet money on Konami doing absolutely nothing with it. And by absolutely nothing, I'm also referring to the song even appearing in DDR in the first place.
