This Native perennial is an important wildlife plant. The Monarch, Queen and Grey Hairstreak butterflies along with several others depend on Milkweeds as a larval host. The long showy bloom of Butterfly Weed is an important nectar source for pollinators. This plant can also be used for food, medicine, twine, pillow stuffing, candle wicks and oils and latex.
