SASSAFRAS
Sassafras is a small to medium sized tree loved for interesting foliage shapes, spectacular fall color and rich history of ethnobotanical value. Sassafras prefers moist well drained soils but tolerates dry and can sucker to form multi stem colonies. Female trees bear bluish black berries. This native beauty is larval host to 30 species of butterflies and moths including Swallowtails and Giant Silk Moths.
