Medicinal Uses: Emmenagogue, antispasmodic, diuretic, diaphoretic and anthelmintic. Used to treat rheumatism, edema, epilepsy, hysteria, and uterine inflammation.
Folklore: Native American midwives and European herbologists have used this herb in a combination for abortive and contraceptive purposes. Additionally, the seed can be roasted and boiled in water to make a coffee-like concoction.
Blue cohosh is associated with the planetary energies of Jupiter and Mars. Blue Cohosh can be used to protect objects and places from evil. It can be added to washes to protective washes (like car rinse water, etc.) and it is also used in bundles to protect infants and children.
