Cat’s-ear Lily (Calochortus subalpinus)

Also known as “mariposa lily.”  These tend to mix in with other flowers which hide their grassy leaves.

We’ve posted two other calochortus species:  tolmiei and macrocarpus.

    Hello darlings! We saw scores of these sweet flowers on the middle slopes of Mt. Adams just last weekend (early August). I figured they were lilies but, not knowing which kind, decided to call them Furry Lily Cat Lilies, after our own Lily Cat. Imagine our delight that they are, in fact, named after a Kitty body part 🙂 Thanks and love, Kat.
