Plan Your Perfect Peak District Adventure

peak district map

The Peak District is a stunning upland area located at the southern end of the Pennines, mainly in Derbyshire; it also extends into Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.

The Peak District is divided into two main areas: the Dark and White Peak. The Dark Peak is characterised by moorland and gritstone, while the White Peak boasts a picturesque limestone area with valleys and gorges. The Dark Peak forms an arc on the district’s north, east, and west sides, while the White Peak covers the central and southern tracts.

Map of the Peak District

I have designed a map showcasing the best mountains and hills for climbing in the Peak District. It highlights awe-inspiring views of the breathtaking countryside, the most popular attractions and destinations to explore, alongside some of the region’s most beloved towns and villages.

PAPER MAPS

A detailed trail map is a must-have for any hiker, and hopefully, I’ve covered that off with my Peak District Walks. However, make sure to get the paper a map that covers the area you plan to hike in. Technology fails, batteries run out, and relying on a phone’s GPS for navigation can be helpful but unreliable.

The best and most comprehensive maps of the Peak District are Ordnance Survey (OS).
