WHEN TO PLANT.Spring
TASTE.The fruit looks more like a lemon or lime than an orange and has a very distinct scent and flavor. The taste is akin to a combination of lemon and bitter orange.
USE.Bergamot is most prized for the super fragrant essential oil extracted from its skin. The aroma is citrusy, musky, and floral with an intensity that's hard to believe. That oil is used to scent perfumes and soaps, and, of course, is commonly combined with black tea for Earl and Lady Grey.
The fruit itself is the size of a small orange and somewhat pear-shaped with a barely conical top and rounded base. On the outside, bergamot comes in various shades of green, yellow, and orange, and on the inside, they are color of limes, lemons, and, occasionally, oranges. Like most citrus, bergamots are in season from October to March. Bergamot oranges contain vitamin C, potassium, and vitamins B1, B2, and A. Bergamot is evergreen in warm, dry climates, like the Mediterranean. It can also be grown in tropical regions. Ivory Coast is a center of cultivation. The trees grow up to 40 feet (12 m.) but are usually kept much smaller. The leaves are similar to those on a lemon tree and the fruits are yellow Follow general citrus tree guidelines when caring for a bergamot orange. Choose a sunny spot protected from the wind and provide 12 to 24 feet (3.6 to 7.3 meters) of space from other trees. Provide plenty of water as the roots establish, and use a balanced fertilizer regularly for the first few years or until it starts bearing fruit. Prune and shape the tree as needed, every two years or so.

I was so hopeful for the seeds. Bergamont helps lower cholesterol levels and I wanted to grow my own instead of taking pills. None of them sprouted. Half of them I soaked overnight, and half I just planted directly. Just so I didn’t mess up. Extremely disappointed. I would have contacted the seller directly, but there was no place despite the links I clicked on I would like a replacement or a refund, please.
