Wildcrafted Irish Moss, Sea Moss.
Color: Dark Purple.
Process: dry whole Chondrus Crispus Seamoss.
Origin: Atlantic Ocean.
Irish moss also known as Ireland sea moss grows naturally along the rocks of the Atlantic Ocean. It is used in the food industry as a natural thickening agent and stabilizer, especially in dairy products. Despite the name, Irish moss is not a moss but a variety of red seaweed or marine algae. The small, fan-shaped plant thrives along the rocky shores of the Atlantic coasts of North America and Europe, especially Great Britain and Ireland. Harvested by hand in the fall, our Chondrus Crispus is cleaned and sun-dried and not altered from its natural form.
The seaweed was named after Ireland because, during the Ireland famine of the 19th century, it became a life-saving dietary staple, due to its rich mineral content. Irish moss is a rich source of protein and various minerals. Irish moss becomes jelly-like when boiled in liquids, it is commonly used to thicken puddings and custards. Dr. Sebi, a prominent herbalist, and natural healer while he was alive and in his videos after his death, on the health benefits of Irish Moss identified this sea herb as a nutrient-rich, essential superfood with 92 minerals.
Cosmetics: Irish moss has been used for centuries in cosmetics and skincare products.
NOTE: This is a 100% wildcrafted Atlantic Ocean Chondrus Crispus. This variant of "sea moss" is a leafy plant. There are many "things" on the market that are being sold as sea moss, some have NO SMELL, and fat stalks. This is because they are grown on ropes in a salt pool (sea moss farms). Our sea moss lived on the rocks, under the Ocean, and will smell like the ocean since we do not alter it. However, the benefits far outweigh the smell. If you don't like seafood then you perhaps should not buy this, as it is a sea vegetable.
