Santolina chamaecyparissus or Cotton Lavender is a small, aromatic, evergreen low-spreading shrub with a compact habit.
The leaves are oblong, silver-grey, and divided into tiny segments.
The dainty, button-like yellow flowers are produced on long stalks in summer and create a spectacular display, especially when planted en masse.
Great for borders edging and pots, with the added attraction of waving gently in the breeze.
N.B. although a perennial, they can be short lived.
