Isabelle Sylvoz

Hello! My name is Isabelle Sylvoz.  I am a Fine Art painter and a photographer living in Los Angeles, California.

I grew up in France and relocated to California in my twenties.

As a young woman; I was inspired by the language of light, in a photography sense and I chose to become a photographer apprentice at Studio Keva in Paris. 

I learned to use large cameras, portrait shooting, light setting, loading films, negative retouching, developing and black & white printing.

Next, I asserted myself to learn the color process which had not previously been a part of my training.

Fortunately, because of my older sister I had the opportunity to come to the United States, to

continue my learning journey.

I studied and graduated at Los Angeles City College in Photography under renowned professors.

During my creative process, my shift to painting came as a natural evolution.

I want to give credit to my dear friend who has passed away Annette Kirsch who was my tutor, my teacher and best friend for years painting with her and having contributed to getting me where I am today.  And, I acknowledge the teachers and guides who helped me along the path.  Finally, I must recognize my biggest teacher my sister Lydie Navarro who is also artistic.

In the torment of today’s world, painting creates calm and soothes my soul.

As I search of my inner voice, my paintings are characterized by colorful mystical brushstrokes with a touch of impressionism and surrealism that captures nature, the beauty and dramatic light.
