A medium-sized or fairly large Yucca native to the Mojave Desert in California, Arizona and southernmost Nevada and reaching into Mexico. It forms a clustering trunk, usually with a few branches. The leaves are thick and very hard, usually yellowish green or rarely bluish, and are held stiff in an upright crown. The Mojave Yucca is perhaps the most drought tolerant in the genus. Established plants require very little additional water and make for great, very low maintenance landscaping in desert areas. It can also take severe freezes, making it suitable for many dry temperate climates.
