Description

(syn. Scilla x allenii)

This is a very attractive, historical, garden hybrid in this case probably between the stunning, large-flowered Chionodoxa forbesii and the smaller, multi-flowered deep blue Scilla bifolia. The result is a very attractive garden plant with a dense inflorescence of good-sized, bright blue flowers, in March.

It is a rare happening that a hybrid combines all of the merits and virtues of both parents, whilst retaining no bad features, this plant is one of those rare exceptions.

Our clone, Fra Angelico, is an excellent clone, traceable to the late Eliot Hodgkin in 1972 via Chris Brickell at Wisley.

It is rare that a hybrid combines all of the merits and virtues of both parents, whilst having no bad features, this plant is one of those rare exceptions.
