Description
A blaze of poppies flood the landscape in spring, on old walls, roadsides and carpeting the fields.
Flowers
The flowers are 4-petalled, bright red, normally with a black spot at the base. Stems are hairy.
Leaves
Pinnatisect leaf is deeply lobed, almost to the central midrib. Deeply lobed, with narrow lobes almost to central midrib, 15 cm long.
Fruits Seeds
Capsule: numerous seeds.
Medical
Flowers: calming properties for respiratory problems and to help small children and others to sleep.
