If you look up rare European titles for the Mega CD, or at least European exclusives for the Mega CD, one company comes to mind in both: Domark. Or to be more accurate, D0MARK. This was for 3 reasons:
  • Two of the games were planned for a US release but cancelled
  • All four of their games were released between late 1994 and 1995
  • They were all shovelware titles

Especially the last point, all of the games were ports of Amiga or Megadrive games with music and in some cases FMV cutscenes being the only improvement/addition.

So as you can tell, I have one of them. Continue reading to see what it is.

Yep, my first game is Battle Frenzy, the German Variant of Bloodshot. What's odd about this one is that the seller had relisted this one several times, lowering the price of this one down quite a bit. I first saw this auction start at 60, then it got relisted to 40, then Buy it now for 25. Then I finally got it at the last 1 1/2 at 20. This was despite having pictures showing everything, the person having a good feedback score, and another person selling the exact same game, exact same condition for 100! But ah well, it's now in my hands and it's quite fun to play for an FPS.

MEGA CD FACT: This game actually has an interesting release history. It was first released in 1994 on the Mega Drive as Battle Frenzy, then in the same year for the Mega drive, it was rereleased as Bloodshot. Then in Europe it was ported to the Mega CD as Bloodshot, but strict German anti-violence laws (the same ones that gave us Probotector instead of Contra) meant in had to be released as Battle Frenzy, despite choosing any other language in game and it would be called Bloodshot.

Amount paid:
Battle Frenzy 20

Total paid: 411.08

Interesting game. Seems like you did the right thing waiting for the guy to list it lower. Smiley

Seems like you could have gotten even cheaper if you waited.
Example
I bought a copy of Mortal Kombat II for Playstation (Japanese) it is supposed to be a R9 or R10 super OMG rare(just checked it is now an R8) and i have 2 copies of it.

The first one i bought the very first time i saw it on eBay 300$ BIN. It was a pretty big chunk of a weeks pay when i was 17 or 18..... either way. I had no bills and money to waste so i bought it on sight. I found the auction within 1 hour of it being listed.

My second copy i got more recently. It was somewhere in the 20-30$ range shipped. I won that with very little competition.

THe Mortal Kombat knives by Gil Hibben got up around 150-200$s for awhile but i waited and managed to pick one of those up for around 50 shipped.

Just because something is supposed to be rare or is initially listed at a high price doesn't mean it is worth that much. It is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it at that exact time.

Oh my final example and the only time i haven't really gotten burned.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PC i got into a bid war and ran a copy up to around or over 100$s plus shipping a couple weeks later i won a copy for around 20 and then another copy later for even less. Smiley

@Sirgin: Yeah, I never knew why someone took it up, so I'm glad I did. @Izret101:You say that, but if you want to know, when I first saw that game, the seller had it for £60, then £50, then £30, then £25 and then finally I got it for £20. Not only that but if you look on eBay in the UK, there's one person selling it for £60 and another for £100! Also, I know that the prices are paid not on rarity but on demand, why do you think Radiant Silvergun is worth so much?

I actually got to play this on Sega Channel. Wasn't bad.
