— -- Susan Sarandon cleared up what she said is a common misconception -- that she and Sigourney Weaver are the same person.

"I want to just clarify a few things," Sarandon, 69, told the crowd at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in London, where she accepted the Inspiration Award Tuesday night. "Sigourney may have left the stage but we are two different people. I have taken credit for 'Alien' many times and she's signed autographs for me."

Sarandon's comments came just after Weaver, 66, had collected the evening's Icon Award.

In the past, Sarandon has joked that Weaver is actually her "bad-ass alter-ego."

"Quite honestly, I’m surprised no one ever figured this out before. How could you not notice how Sigourney and I have never starred in the same movie or attended the same award show at the same time?" she wrote in a first-person piece in 2014. "Come on, Sigourney isn’t even a real name. That was just how I mispronounced ‘Sidney’ after a couple too many chardonnays."

Besides pointing out how the Hollywood leading ladies are often mistaken for each other, Sarandon spoke some encouraging words to her fellow female actors.

"I am inspired by women," she said. "Nobody multi-tasks like women. We have to stop worrying about being perfect and do the best we can and have fun."

She also touched on the Hollywood pay gap controversy.

"In terms of inequality and how much we get paid, remember it's quality not quantity," she said. "Who wants to play all those parts anyway? A lot of guys parts suck."
