Baywatch star Nicole Eggert is sharing an update amid her ongoing battle with breast cancer

The actress, who was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in December, posted an Instagram video on Thursday that featured her shaving off her hair with an electric razor. The clip — which was set to the tune of the Beastie Boys’ 1986 hit “Fight for Your Right” — featured Eggert shaving off most of her hair before her daughter, Keegan, appeared to help shave the back.

Alongside the video, Eggert, 52, included a quote from author Madeleine Eames: "Maybe healing involves not so much changing ourselves but allowing ourselves to be who we are."

After sharing her post online, many of Eggert’s former costars shared their love and support for her in the comments section. “BAD. ASS,” Erika Eleniak, who starred as Shauni McClain on Baywatch, commented. “Yes, you are. And stunningly gorgeous with or without hair!!”

Traci Bingham, who played Jordan Tate in the lifeguard series, added that Eggert was “Beautiful Always!!” And Who’s the Boss star Alyssa Milano wrote, “Grace. You have the most grace. It’s inspiring and I appreciate you.”

In January, Eggert told PEOPLE that she was diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a painful lump in her left breast after conducting a self-examination. "It's there. It needs to be taken out,” she explained. “So it's just a matter of do I have to do treatment before the surgery or can they perform the surgery and then I do the treatment after."

At the time, the single mother of two expressed concern about being able to afford her medical bills. "It's just so overwhelming, and I'm just doing everything I can not to spiral,” she remarked. “At night when I lay down, I panic because I'm like, 'Well, who's going to cover all the bills? Who's going to do all of this?'"

While her friend Mindy Molinary has set up a GoFundMe with proceeds going toward Eggert’s medical costs, the actress said that she wants to “100% start a non-profit for other single parents such as myself” in the future.

"I've gotten such an outpouring of love and it makes you feel so good. It changes your whole day and other people just don't have that," she said. "So I really want to figure out a way to give back to other parents that are in my situation that aren't as fortunate."
