Trinity Health CEO Bolano to step down

A long and active career in health care is coming to a close.

Trinity Health West Region Chief Executive Officer Odette C. Bolano has announced she will retire in June of 2024.

Bolano was the first CEO of Trinity’s West Region, uniting Saint Alphonsus in Idaho and Oregon with California-based Saint Agnes Medical Center. She has been president and CEO for the past five years. She has served for eight years in an executive leadership role for Saint Alphonsus.

“Odette leaves a lasting mark on the communities served by Saint Alphonsus and Saint Agnes and our national health system,” said Ben Carter, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Livonia, Michigan-based Trinity Health.

“Her passion and commitment to high-quality, safe care has been nationally recognized and truly embodies our mission,” Carter continued in a statement. “I know all of Trinity Health shares my heartfelt appreciation for all Odette has accomplished.”

During Bolano’s leadership at Trinity, Saint Alphonsus was named as one of the country’s top 15 health systems by IBM Watson and recognized by U.S. News & World Report. Under her purview, Saint Alphonsus opened Idaho’s first advanced neuro, surgical and trauma intensive care unit last year.

Outside of her work in the health care industry, Bolano serves as chair-elect of the Idaho Hospital Association, chair of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and Boise State University Foundation, among others.

Additionally, she is a member of the Carol Emmott Fellowship board, which is a national organization that mentors women leaders in the health care industry.

Along with her other board memberships, Bolano serves on the board of the American Board of Internal Medicine Foundation and on the board for Idaho Power/IDACORP.

She was Idaho Business Review’s Woman of the Year in 2021 and was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 50 most influential clinical executives in health care and twice as one of the top 25 women executives in health care.

Her most recently accolade was being named one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.”

The search to find Bolano’s replacement will begin in January next year.
