Mumbai Metro Line 2A & 7 records 8 million ridership

Since the inauguration of the second phase on January 20, 2023, to February 20, 2024, a total of 7,17,48,370 passengers have traveled on Mumbai Metro lines 2A and 7.

The elevated Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 have recorded a combined ridership of 8 million since their inception. Launched in two phases, these lines have recorded a total ridership of 8,07,13,515 from April 2–2022, to February 20 this year. Since the inauguration of the second phase on January 20, 2023, to February 20, 2024, a total of 7,17,48,370 passengers have traveled on Mumbai Metro lines 2A and 7.

According to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the two elevated lines have seen a consistent 5% increase in ridership month-on-month, indicating the growing acceptance of these services, which are now two years old. Currently, an average of 2.30–2.35 lakh passengers take these trains on weekdays.

As of February 20–2024, a total of 1,85,345 passengers have purchased the Mumbai–1 card.

Metro Line 2A and 7 is a 35 km elevated line passing from Dahisar to Andheri on the east and west side of the suburbs of Mumbai via link road and Western Express Highway. Line 2A takes 40 minutes to cross the distance of 18.6 km from Dahisar to DN Nagar, Andheri West, and 35 minutes on Line 7 between Dahisar E and Gundavali, Andheri E, respectively.

Everyday, the metro train completes 257 trips between 5:55 am to 11 am on this elevated line.
