Unexpected news from The Sequoia Park Zoo, an endangered red panda named “Cinni” was found dead in her enclosure on Sunday, Dec. 17.

Cinni was born and raised at the zoo, born in 2014.

On Sunday, care staff at the zoo who worked with the pandas discovered she had died.

The Director of The Sequoia Park Zoo, Jim Campbell-Spickler tells the Northstate’s News they are mourning the loss of their family member.

Campbell-Spickler said, “as an AZA accredited zoo we participate in a species survival plan program and she’s gonna be missed.”

It was determined that Cinni had an aggressive pancreatic cancer. However, Campbell-Spickler said she was "her usual panda self." The Zoo is asking the community for their support and to share any photos or videos of Cinni.
