What a cute little Italian cafe. I've had my eye on this place for a long time but their listed hours on Google are Monday to Friday 8am-3pm and on Saturdays they are only open 8am-12pm (and they're closed on Sundays). Not gonna lie, I'm rarely out of the house before noon on a weekend, so I kind of resigned myself to the fact that this place will sit on my "to visit sometime" list for a long time. However, recently on a Saturday, it was 12:50pm and they were still open!! So I finally got to try them.
Their cannoli are so delicious! The pastry is crunchy and the filling is thick and creamy. They are a good size too. I shared one with my husband.
We also shared a roast beef sandwich and enjoyed it. The beef was thinly sliced and the sandwich also had provolone cheese, arugula, tomatoes and pickled onions. It was a bit too oily/greasy for my tastes, but much less so than some other places. Overall, a pretty tasty sandwich.
Service was courteous and efficient.
The inside was full of people so I couldn't snap a shot for y'all, but it's pretty inside, like a traditional Italian cafe. (And by that I mean what Italian cafes in Little Italy in Toronto looked like when I was growing up, lol. One of my childhood friends is Italian, and her older brother worked at several different cafes in Corso Italia, and I'm not sure why she always had to give something to her brother, but I'd often come along, so I saw the inside of several old school Italian cafes back in the day. I've never actually been to Italy).
There are a few limited parking spots in front of the cafe in their private parking lot. There's also free street parking nearby.
Based on the cannolo we had, I'm looking forward to trying their other desserts.Helpful 44Thanks 0Love this 42Oh no 0 - Joanna S.Ottawa, ON04May 18, 2019First to Review
This Italian caffè is a gem on the Gladstone strip enroute to Little Italy from Chinatown. Their coffee and service brings back amazing memories of my summer in Italy. Fantastic pasta selections change regularly and ensure that there are choices for picky eaters like my daughter, who loved their spaghetti and meatballs. Their cannoli was yummy too. This could also a cute place to grab a lazy lunch on weekends with your friends or an early romantic dinner as they also have wine. Definitely worth checking out.
