Diving into this Mexican eatery is like stepping into a Tex-Mex haven - casual yet comforting. The star of the show were their fresh lime juice margaritas that hit that perfect balance of tangy goodness. The friendly service adds a homey touch; it's the kind of place where you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit.
Quesadillas are a masterpiece, filled generously from edge to edge. What sets this spot apart is the fair pricing despite the ample servings and top-notch ingredients. It's not just a meal; it's a bang for your buck. So, if you're in the mood for a laid-back Tex-Mex feast with fresh margaritas, look no further!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 13, 20241 check-in
Stopped in for lunch while on a day trip to Columbus. It was a pure chance visit. So very happy that we did! Smallish place with some Native decor. Our server was top notch! Thank you! Complementary chips and salsa were quickly served. The salsa had a good flavor and a nice bite to it. We ordered some adult beverages as well perusing the menu. My wife really enjoyed her coconut strawberry. Margarita! My wife and I split their Navajo flatbread taco. Although it wasn't true Navajo flatbread, it wasn't too bad! Additionally, I ordered their green chili stew. I thought both dishes were extremely well done and very tasty! We might be able to stop there sometime again on another day trip before we depart Ohio. Keep up the great work!

I used to live by the old location and went all the time. Loved it. This one opened and I didn't ever get up here, the old one closed, and today I had a chance so I swung by.
Nice open feel to the place, patio was open and doors let light and air into the inside, where we sat. Not busy when we got there at 1130am on a weekday but definitely was by the time we left. Great service, though they were scrambling.
Menu is something like I remember from the original location, with some changes. They brought out good tortilla chips with a salsa I loved, chunky and medium hot. Mom got the taco lunch special, with beef, and liked it, though they were hard to pick up so she went with her fork. She would have preferred refried beans to the intact ones, but she loved the tacos and the pineapple salsa. Said there was just a little heat in it.
I had the Aztec wrap with pork. Big, held together well most of the way through. Packed with meat and veggies. Very tasty all in all, and flavors melded well. Pork was tender and flavorful. Came with fries or tots, I chose tots. Usually not a big fan, but these were crispy and lightly seasoned. Very good.
Prices seem a little high till you factor in the portion size and quality. Well worth it then. Lots on the menu I want to try. I'll definitely be back and wish I hadn't stayed away so long.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Dec 28, 2023
Stopped here for lunch while waiting for Costco to finish my tires. I went basic with a quesadilla and I picked the green Chile pork as my protein. It was very good. Chips and salsa were also very good. Very chunky salsa but good and came to the table immediately. The food was fast and the service was exceptional (thanks, David!j) Will definitely go back.

I recently went back to Chili Verde and everything was excellent! The service was great, the food was full of flavor, amazing chips and salsa, and delicious queso. They upgraded the space and it looks super nice and a great patio as well for the warmer months. This is one of my new favorite Mexican restaurants.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 21, 2023Previous reviewI always enjoy my meals at Chile verde! I recently visited and started out with the queso, chips, and salsa. The queso was delicious, and I also loved the salsa and chips.
For my entree I ordered the chicken fajitas. I have ordered the chicken fajitas from here about a year ago and loved them. Last time I got them the chicken was a little over cooked and not as tender as I'm used to with fajitas. Some of the pieces were a little chewy, and I never received sour cream or guacamole with my fajitas. I asked for a side of the hot salsa and by the looks of the menu it seems like you can choose a small salsa with your entree, but was charged $4 extra for it. Not a big deal but I wish the server would have let me know or the menu would state it's extra for a small side of salsa.
Overall I have loved this restaurant in the past and always recommend it to people and will continue to do so! Super unique menu and lots of good options! - Rodney W.Columbus, OH173269300Sep 16, 2023
The top travel site on the internet rated the Sawmill Rd location as the third best Mexican restaurant in Columbus. Sadly, that location closed so I popped over to their other location - this one.
I arrived during Happy Hour, so I gave that menu a look first: It's basically all the appetizers and a couple of sides at discounted rates. Not discounted deeply enough, I thought. So I moved on to the main menu and decided on the $20 Combo Plato, which came with three entre items among six choices and sides of rice and beans. I chose the burrito, enchilada, and tamale with the chili verde (hot) sauce: they were all pretty good- especially the tamale. And the platter was definitely filling; I'm a fat guy and even I couldn't finish it. On the bright side, the leftovers made for a nice midnight snack.
As for the service, the waitress was as ideally cheerful as you would hope a real Mexican mama would be after she invited you over for supper. And the atmosphere, with a front façade that's actually a large garage-like door that opens to the outside when the weather is nice, was exceptionally pleasant due to sunny, mid 70s weather on an early Autumn day.
The bill came to $30 with a $5 tip. I will return if I'm in the area. For the tamalesHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrew C.Columbus, OH013Apr 21, 2024

UPDATE - Quick update to show that they just opened a very cool patio. Really worth it a visit.

Ordered the enchilada stack, one of my favorites, and the beef fajitas. Lots of food enough for 2 extra meals.
UPDATE - Had the beef and chicken fajitas tonight. Good but not great. The beef was way overdone almost charred, not a good feature. Condiments wise it was tasty, served hot and a nice portion. It was accompanied by a very mediocre pico (mostly lettuce, cheese and a couple of chunks of tomato), beans, rice, flour tortillas, sour cream and a tasteless guacamole. Still a decent meal but some roomMar 23, 2019Previous reviewUPDATE - Had the beef and chicken fajitas tonight. Good but not great. The beef was way overdone almost charred, not a good feature. Jan 29, 2016Previous reviewOn a co-worker's recommendation we tried Chile Verde tonight. The place was crammed packed at 7 p.m. with a crowd waiting indoors and out. Once seated we were served quickly and the food was outstanding.
We chose the Navajo Taco, an open faced taco served on navajo-style bread, and the chicken/steak Santa Fe. Both dishes were delicious. The meats were tender and very well seasoned. The New Mexican rice has a very nice blend of spices and a chipotle-smoked flavor that sets it apart from run of the mill Mexican-style rice. Both dishes were large enough to share and to take home. Recommend. - Gary W.OH, OH0219Dec 27, 2023
My wife, granddaughter and I stopped for lunch here and were pleasantly surprised by Chili Verde. Not a typical Mexican joint. I am a big fan of Rellenos and had never one deep fried. It was amazing. The crunchy exterior and then you get the pepper and cheese, perfectly done! My fellow diners enjoyed their Aztec and Anthony wraps, that's right wraps. A whole spin of what we think about Mexican cuisine. Many other things on the menu I can't wait to try. Service was outstanding.
