I don't get why my peers are so obsessed with this place.
Chips are greasy but for some reason you just keep eating them. It took us way too long to get seated when the place was empty and also way too long for us to get the bill.
Like as in, we had to ask 5+ times and even then it didn't come.
Definitely would rather go to El Cholo, that place is bomb.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cynthia G.Los Angeles, CA923018Nov 27, 2008
Private parking lot in + awesome margaritas = great place to eat!!
The Mexican food here is very standard, nothing impressive, although I must say their guacamole here is one of the best I've ever had - it is definitely on par with guac I make myself (and I've become famous for my guacamole among my friends...) So guac = A+, and their salsa is also reeeally delicious, love how it's so spicy and good!
I love the chile relleno here. I get it almost every time in their combo deals (on the 2nd page of the menu). Comes with all the standards - Mexican rice, beans+Cheese, salad. Burritos are good, so are shrimp dishes, so is everything else basically...
SHARE the entrees. You will save so much money (dinner for 2 for like, $10?!) plus you won't feel your stomach bursting in pain from food coma.
Also, happy hour EVERYDAY (except Sunday) until 7 PM. TUESDAY = ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR!! That means $2 margaritas. Margaritas here are AWESOME. Can't beat them anywhere else. Large glass + plenty of tequila to get you buzzing in no time.
I used to come here once a week until I decided it was time to lose weight. I love coming here though, great with a group of friends. However, the last time I came here, food was sub-par. Maybe it was just an off day....
Just a note: Although Tuesdays are all day happy hour, Tuesday also tends to be Greek Night i.e. billions of sorority/frat kids crowding the place. Either come early or be prepared to wait.

Carnitas are super dry.
Coloso burrito is very large pretty good.
Pork Salsa verde is also good.
Chips and salsa (free) are ok
The service was pretty slow, it seemed like they had a ton of workers but the system was very good or they were confusing for each other or something cause it took a while for many things to get done.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mae D.Las Vegas, NV152302209Nov 27, 2010
Not to shabby La Barca!
Was on a mission for fish tacos around my neighborhood & found this place on yelp.
Went on a Tuesday night. It was pretty crowded. Got 2 strawberry margaritas.. YUMM. & Fish tacos. Their fish tacos aren't fried btw, but it wasn't bad :)) The service was excellent.
Parking is on the street or the empty lot next to it but im not sure if we're supposed to park in that lot. haa haa.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Soobin L.Fullerton, CA9325Oct 20, 2016
I went here because my friend lives nearby and I wanted to celebrate her birthday. It looks little bit of a ghetto from outside, but it was actually really cozy and enjoyable inside. They had a happy hour for margaritas so we order two for the cheap price, and they tasted awesome (comes with a huge plate of chips). Also we ordered one beef+shrimp fajita plate and it was huge, and price was reasonable. They have their own parking space so you can park your car there. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a place to have Mexican food for reasonable price, but I am giving 4 stars because outside gets pretty dangerous especially at night time. But inside the restaurant is very different from the outside, and servers are pretty nice.

Service was great, very attentive. The margarita was very citrus-y, which I liked, but was a bit strong for my friend. The carnitas taco was overall tasty (good portion, good texture), but wasn't the most punchy-flavorful I've had in LA. I'd definitely come back if I were in the area, though. Really cool interior, and good location near USC.

Four stars for atmosphere and parking (they have a LOT! albeit a sketchy, small one, but free private parking lots in LA are almost nonexistent), three stars for food.
I've been here a couple of times with friends, and it's always busy. Sometimes we've had to wait, but usually they find a way to squeeze us in. It's always loud in here, especially when there's a game on TV. The tortilla chips they give you as appetizers are greasy but the salsa is pretty good. I've tried most of the chicken dishes, and they're all pretty good. The same goes for the burritos (which are HUGE). Slightly higher priced than other Mexican joints, but not too bad.
Will be back to write another review once I'm 21 and can try the famous $2 margaritas.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennie V.Redondo Beach, CA1097233Oct 17, 2010
$2.95 margaritas for happy hour - I can't complain! And their margaritas are just perfect, and yes you can taste the tequila.
Salsa was great, on the spicy side just how I like it. Fajita portion was plentiful. Beef cocido was just right, the meat melted off the bones and potatoes were cooked to perfection.
The place was a bit hard to find. Entrance to parking lot is located on 25th street, so you'll have to park then walk around the block to enter the restaurant.
'SC folks should bring their cards for discounts.
HI: Great margarita for an even-better price!
LO: Finding this place and its parking lot for the first time was harder than solving an AP Calculus problem in 8th grade!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aida D.Los Angeles, CA1381828Nov 2, 2010
La Barca!
Oh how I love your Chile Rellenos & Margaritas!
And the fact that you are down the street from school & my home!
yay!
I also love how your Chile Relleno plate w/ yummy rice & beans is only $6.95 ! :D yay! USC has me so broke!
I'll see you soon!
p.s. keep in mind that i eat this dish homemade ALL the time- & this place makes beans, rice & chile rellenos just the same! delicioso!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Abe G.Los Angeles, CA1153131Jul 30, 2012
Im a fan of this place and have been coming here ever since I was a teenager. Food is delicious and drinks are cheap (happy hour). Size of restaurant to me is small but the speed is great. Would definitely recommend this place for birthday, graduations, groups, dates etc.
