Service was very slow here even before dinner rush. Good views of the lake depending on where you are sitting. Street can get busy as it is near the commercial/business area of Geneva.

Food was not bad, but quite pricey as you are probably just paying for the views. It's not bad food, just mediocre.

      Miss italia - very good

Wow - I'm floored by some of the reviews because we really had a great time. Our waiter, Paolo, was going to seat us inside, per our request, and when he asked why I commented that I needed to sit inside because I am very allergic to cigarette smoke. He encouraged us to sit outside for the view and ambience - and promised to keep people away from us, seated on the fringe (perfect). He was true to his word and we had a wonderful time and dinner.

It is a great location, near the bridge and right next to the water, which was fun for people-watching. They had furs to sit on and blankets to keep everyone warm, which was a very nice touch, although we certainly didn't need the blankets. The furs kept sitting very comfortable and it never got cold.

The food was delicious. I had Lemon Risotto with Prawns, which was cooked perfectly and had lots of prawns, while my husband had Grilled Salmon, served with risotto and vegetables. Very Italian and very quite good. For dessert we had tiramisu, which was surprisingly good - better than any we've had in the US for sure.

Paolo was perfect - not overly attentive, which I appreciate because I hate hovering, but always there when we had a question or wanted another drink. The aperol spritzes, which I drank, were a discovery for me in Switzerland and I loved them. The spritzes here were big and quite good.

And Paolo kept his word and seated smokers away from us, which is not always how it goes. Most places promise but don't follow through, but he did so we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves.

We would go back again in a heartbeat if we ever make it back to Geneva, which I hope we do because it is a lovely city - and enjoying our last night's meal at Le Lacustre with Paolo was the perfect end to a wonderful trip.

      Thank you, Paolo.

I've read some blah reviews of this restaurant, but all that I can do is review my particular visit. We thought that we were settling, as we were having a hard time finding a nice place on a Sunday night in November, then we came upon Le Lacustre, and we couldn't have expected any better experience.

First, keep in mind that you simply cannot be in a hurry when dining (fine dining) in Switzerland - particularly the French-speaking part of the country.

That being said, service was fantastic. Food was wonderful - including the starter, wine, and dessert. Veal with mushroom sauce, herbed chicken with hand-made butter noodles, calzone, and Margherita pizza.

      Bon appetit!!

We stopped here as we were walking along the lake so that we could take a drink. The service wasn't exceptional and the appetizer lacked flavor. I had a plate of bruschetta which really consisted of bread with tomatoes (absolutely no seasoning). Rather bland in comparison to the bruschetta I've eaten in the past. I also took an aperol spritz which was not the best... the prosecco to aperol ratio was not even (too much aperol). This place is the type of place you go to enjoy a view and to be seen but I wouldn't go for much more.

Before I am quick to judge, I will go back for a meal and update my review then!

"Extremely rude and inefficient service. We were ignored, they were not interested in our business. Shame, great location."

That was the review that drew me to this spot. No joke.

All of the elements stated in that person's review were correct.

Moron, this is Europe. This is the resto paradigm over here.

      Tasty Swiss fare.

      Deelish cocktails.

Life-changing views of the lake, canal, architecture...history.

Service...meh, these people don't rely on your crappy tip, American fools, so they don't bug you every two seconds. The sooner you understand that concept the quicker you'll acclimate to the European vibe and chill-the-fuuuck-out.

Be like Louis R, travel to Switzerland.

      My view from the bar.

Really fun lakeside spot to have a simple meal and a glass of wine. Had a long lovely evening watching the sunset, swans on the lake, and the people walking by. It's pricey, but so is the rest of Geneva.

      View from restaurant.

Went here for dinner last night. The place is well located near the water and view, that is where the positive ends. The food is not great and overpriced due to location, even for Switzerland not worth the price. Then the service, terrible is an understatement and i know service is different. The woman who was our waitress was horrible and we waited for our food forever, even after it came there was no apology no recognition of the delay . Not once did she come to ask if everything was ok, ask if we wanted something else. The place was dirty and there was no one in charge of the overall service. On a final note, the bathroom was dirty , there was no paper in either toilet and no soap. Will never come here again and i would not recommend anyone come to this restaurant . Only giving it one star because i can't give it 0 !

I've been here twice, and the food is fairly decent. The first time I went, I had a lemon risotto with shrimp that was really good. The second time, I had some sort of decent but relatively forgettable veal dish.

The location makes me give this place an extra star: it's on the lake and has a great view. There's a nice outdoor patio, which has got to be a lovely spot for a drink or two in nice weather. Unfortunately, I was there in Jan/Feb, so I didn't get to experience the fun!

I came here because of the previous Yelper's review - I totally disagree.

While the location of the restaurant is phenomenal the restaurant offers little else, as became evident by the lack of patrons on the evening we went.

The staff is slow and inefficient and not because they are trying to give you space but just because they don't seem to be that into the job.
Steaks are OK, nothing phenomenal just middle of the road and unfortunately the fish is not as good as the steak.
So sadly the atmosphere stinks and the food and service matches - really a shame given the location.
