About the Business
The Zia Maria team's newest opening, Osteria Barocca, allows Chef Salvatore Vezzi from Sicily to imagine a menu that blends traditional Italian dishes with New York favorites. Influenced by Italian fare from the country to the Alps, Chef's focus is quality of ingredients, flavor profiles that tell a story, and presentation. Food is the connection to Italian culture and family.

Finally able to review this fantastic restaurant. Beautifully furnished- hardwood bar, tables and chairs are comfortable, servers are very friendly and efficient.
We were stopped as we were walking to another restaurant for lunch . The very friendly guy showed us the lunch menu and assured us that they had high ratings- which my son checked. Prices were comparable to where we were headed.
The food was fantastic! Lasagna melted in my mouth. Pesto was delicious. Chicken Marsala was really good.
At the time we were eating, I tried to check in on Yelp but I got a message that the restaurant was having issues with reviews so I couldn't review or check in. Our server gave us 3 limoncellos to finish our meal. I've had limoncellos before, I've made my own, and these were perfect.
When we're back in NewYork we'll definitely be back.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dec 6, 2023
The restaurant is a cute & cozy establishment with plenty of seating. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed by one of their popular dishes - the Carbonara.
Perhaps we came on an off day, but collectively as a group, we thought the Carbonara tasted a little off. The dish itself was cold and the pasta noodles tasted a little doughy with a frozen aftertaste. Would recommend getting the spicy rigatoni instead.
Other than the Carbonara, Osteria Barocca is such a cute restaurant and great for groups!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 3, 2023
Amazing new place, said they have only been open about 5 months. I absolutely love the inside and the decor, but let's discuss my fav- they have three huge single stall bathrooms that are such a great find in New York City.
The outside sidewalk area is a little cramped but everyone of course wants to enjoy the sun while we have it.
The food is delicious and the surface is impeccable. The inside is spacious.
There is never any parking but if you're in the city you know you've parked somewhere else.Helpful 7Thanks 4Love this 4Oh no 1 - Ashleigh F.Carson City, NV16728Apr 29, 2024
We had such a great meal and wine selection here at Osteria! Especially loved their pistachio martinis and tiramisu for dessert!! Everything was soooo amazing and we'll definitely be back!

They such a sweet and energetic host. Their happy hour is killer! I got this amazing strawberry and pineapple white wine sangria for $10 and hubby got peroni beer for $7
Happy hour 3-7 pm on weekdays.
They have really nice decor inside and outside. The materials they use for dishes/straws are eco friendly.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 4Oh no 0 - Mohamed A.New York, NY02Apr 24, 2024

We had a nice Christmas Eve dinner here. The decor is understated but charming, the service is friendly if a tad slow. The tagliatelle and short ribs were tasty (but apparently not as good as the short ribs my brother in law makes, according to my sister). The eggplant was good, the mushroom risotto was just ok (not many mushrooms!). The artichoke salad wasn't great- dressing was bland. The white wine options were somewhat limited and we didn't like the Pinot Grigio we selected (lacked complex flavors and depth). The red wine was much better - the Montepulciano was full bodied but very smooth and balanced.

4 starts for the location and ambience - loved the modern feel inside yet outside patio felt a lot like being in Europe! You also can't be the location, esp on the patio, for all the people watching on Mulberry.
Service was a little slow...took almost an hour for us to get our food (and that was even just the appetizer!)...I get they are busy, but def felt like they could have at least acknowledged it or gave us some free bread!
We started with the octopus (very flavorful), and had the carbonara and the maccheroncini (seafood black pasta)....both were good...but it also could have been b/c we were very hungry.
The limoncello spritz was a great touch though! :)Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 30, 2023
My friend and I grabbed a quick drink here before heading to dinner. When you enter, the place was dark and moody and you could tell it was high quality. The servers at the bar were attentive the whole time. They made our espresso martinis so well. They weren't bitter and too strong. We also got a free shot for checking in! That was a nice little touch. I would love to dine her for dinner when in the area again!
