My pasta was spectacular. The chef wasn't particularly friendly, but I already knew that from reading the other reviews so I set my expectations. There is no menu, the chef will tell you what is available. The menu is in his head. Tonight, there was pasta with clams, Squid ink pasta with shrimp, and pasta Bolognese. I opted for the squid ink. It was truly delicious, a hint of spice, just the right amount of garlic and seasoning, really filling. I enjoyed my meal. If you have dietary restrictions, this is not the place for you. If you want good service, forget it. It's just one guy, the chef, running the show. It will take him a while to get to you. However, the pasta is fantastic. I would give it five stars for the food. He did seem friendlier with locals/Italians that came in. Perhaps because I speak English I was treated less friendly. He even said prego to me when I took 5 seconds to think about my options. I don't think that he liked that I asked what kind of meat is used for the bolognese. Don't come here for the service, set your expectations, and come for the excellent pasta. In the end, since there is no menu and no prices, I was a little nervous to see what I would owe. My dish was 19.20. I rounded up to 20 Eur. Reasonable and delicious. Bon appetit

Definitely a hole in a wall, small business! There's no menu. We arrived at 6:15 and were seated promptly. There were 2 parties ahead of us and we were told upon being seated that there would be a wait for the food. The owner went through the menu he had available for that night and we decided on the tortillini. The portion was perfect for us and I believe there was truffle inside. The quality is superb. We also got a bottle of water and our total came out to $42 euros. If you're in the mood for pasta, I highly recommend this place!

Part one: My husband and I decided to walk forever and we ended up here. No one was in the restaurant. 7:30pm. We were hungry. The owner convinced us that he's the best at making Italian pasta himself. All homemade. There is no menu. He explains what he's going to make. We did not understand, yet we picked a pasta and ordered ravioli for 2. I have no idea what it comes with or actually no idea exactly what we ordered. Today is or Anniversary and we decided to just go with it. He brought us vino bianco and acqua panna still water. Fingers crossed.
Part two: I will let you know.
Dinner was delicious. We savored every bite. The grape tomatoes and fresh basil enhanced the exquisite flavor of the fresh, homemade ravioli pasta. The owner was so sweet! Our anniversary dinner was remarkable. I highly recommend and is worthy of a Michelin Star.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Holly F.Wilmette, IL062Apr 10, 2023
Life changing meal!
I am not a big pasta fan but this was one of, if not, the best meal I have ever had.
We were in Vienna for 4 days and luckily found this place our first night so we could make a reservation for the last night.
Valentino does all the cooking, cleaning, serving etc.
He offered three pastas (shrimp scampi was my favorite!) The dinners took long as he is doing it all but it was 100% worth the wait.
This meal would bring me back to Vienna!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Charlene S.Downtown, Honolulu, HI0122Dec 15, 2023
Truly a 5 star experience!! After reading about this establishment through reviews which mentioned that there is no menu, that the chef greets, waits, discusses his choice of menu for the evening , then cooks, serves, and acts as cashier, I knew this would be a unique experience. And he did not disappoint. My meal was exceptional, it was the first time for me that my focus was on how delicious the fresh pasta and sauce was, which wouldn't have needed any thing else on it. A new experience in dining Italian. The restaurant itself is quietly located and the interior is both quaint and relaxing. And lastly, it was just a joy and pleasure to meet and watch the Chef work his way among the tables from beginning to end. It was a wonderful evening and an experience that I would certainly recommend to friends and family visiting Vienna! My only regret is we ran out of time to go back for round 2.

We decided to try this place after reading the reviews. It is bit off the beaten path, however well worth it. There is no set menu, Valentino will walk you through what the specials are...you will not be disappointed with your choice. Every dish that he prepared for us was amazing, wish he had room to eat more. Best pasta in Vienna.

Valentino is incredible. He is the owner, chef, server, all in one. No other staff! We saw the great reviews from others and were craving good pasta. We called to make a reservation - just in case - and were the first ones there at 6pm. He asked if we were really hungry deciding how much pasta he should make for us. There were no menus. Valentino gave us a handful of pasta dishes he can make and also added that he can basically make anything we think of! When he asked what kind of wine we would like, red or white, he decided on the type and gave us the background on the wine and where it came from in Italy. The pasta was HEAVENLY. I went with a cheesy pasta (as he offered up a Gorgonzola marscaponé style with asparagus) and my friend got the squid ink shrimp scampi style dish. After dinner Valentino surprised us with a tiramisu dessert and then finished the experience with a grappa shot! The entire bill was less than we expected for how amazing everything was and him working all by himself. And it's cash only!! Valentino does not accept tips but we tried anyway!! He is so talented in his cooking you HAVE to come by when you're in Vienna!
Also: because he is doing everything himself, other tables to wait on too, expect a longer evening there. For the two of us starting at 6pm we didn't walk out until shortly after 8pm. But it was well worth the visit!
Thank you Valentino!! We will be sharing our experience with friends and family to visit in the future!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Ed S.San Francisco, CA3121Jun 11, 2022
Best pasta outside of Italy. Freshest ingredients. Superb preparation . I have never devoured a bowl of pasta Bolognese as I did here. Don't miss this!

The BEST place ever. My friends and I made reservations our first week in Vienna. We walked in not knowing what to expect. Since then we have gone back once a week for the last 3 months. The owner, Valentino, is the kindest man. It is a one man show, with him waiting on you, cooking, and everything in between. The menu is different each time we have gone, and it has always been the best pasta I've ever had. From truffle ravioli, to Pomodoro, to pesto, to vodka sauce- everything he makes is incredible. We love to talk to him and learn more about his life and Vienna. Cannot say enough good things about Stella Marina, truly the best place in Vienna and one of the best places I've ever been in my life.
