I've been meaning to post an update since they hired a new chef, so here it goes...
If you're looking for Filipino pasta that's sweet and contains sliced hot dogs dyed red, you definitely won't find it here. Al Bacio serves authentic Italian dishes made by an Italian chef, who uses fresh ingredients and takes pride in all his dishes.
Let me quote myself from my first review: "First glance at the menu might make you say that it's quite pricey; but if you factor in the price of importing quality goods from Italy, the effort it takes to make everything in house (dressing, sauces, bread, pasta, and pizza dough) AND the VIP treatment you get from the wonderful staff: the price point is completely reasonable."
This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants: cozy atmosphere, warm staff, and delicious food. I love that the waitstaff and chef are eager to accommodate any requests within reason. We always leave here relaxed, with satisfied tastebuds, and happy bellies.
Mangiamo!Helpful 96Thanks 0Love this 95Oh no 0Apr 9, 2021Previous reviewThe front reminds me of a Spanish mission; but when you walk through the door, you notice the warm colors, cozy seating and romantic Italian music playing softly in the background. Che bello!
WE HAD:
- Complimentary fresh baked bread served warm with olive oil and balsamic vinegar DELISH!
- Caesar salad - fresh and tasty.
- Rigatoni with mushrooms in truffle cream sauce- this was even better than the last time we had it, rich and flavorful YUM!
- Gelato - we had a scoop of After Eight (the chocolate & mint candy) and a scoop of Pistachio. They're made in house and you can tell that they use fresh ingredients. Both were creamy and not overly sweet. The flavors really come through and I'm eager to try out the others.
- Espresso- made from imported Italian coffee beans
Imported ingredients, fresh herbs and home made dressings/sauces/pasta/pizza dough: is someone's nonna working in the kitchen?
It is rare that you can get top notch service in the Philippines to the level of fancy restaurants in the U.S. Staff are warm and good natured. They will accommodate any reasonable request to make sure you have a great time. They actually check in on you and correct any problems that you may encounter, all with a great attitude and a smile. Patrons get perks, but I'm not going to tell you what they are. It depends on how well you treat the staff, so be nice!
With tastebuds gratified and our bellies content, I'm inspired to croon O SOLE MIO.....Sep 8, 2019Previous reviewWhat a delightful find: a little corner of Italy in the bustling city of Angeles!
The outside reminds me of a Spanish mission. Inside, decor is simple but tasteful with cozy booths, warm lighting and Italian music playing softly in the background. Hubby and I like to go during the week for early dinner because we enjoy being spoiled by the staff, I'll explain more later.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Caesar salad - everything is made fresh and the croutons are so light and crispy.
- Prosciutto Crudo E Mango - sweet mango paired with salty Parma ham and the super fresh pesto made for a perfect appetizer.
- Any of their pizzas. It comes out hot from their brick oven with nice stretchy cheese, a crust that's thin with a crisp edge and a satisfying chew.
- Rigatoni al Funghi con crema di Tartufo- mushroom with truffle sauce. Oh my! Pasta was al dente, mushrooms were meaty and the truffle sauce was rich YUM!
- pasta dishes come with complimentary bread made from scratch. Make sure to dip it in their oil and balsamic vinegar, add their chili oil if you like a little kick.
- their desserts are sweet so you'll want to pair it with their strong Italian espresso drinks made with Lavazza coffee.
Glen took excellent care of us: refilling our bread basket, topping off our waters, and also checking in on us occasionally. He'll bend over backwards to try and accommodate your requests, all with a genuine smile and an easygoing personality. He's been in the industry for 30 years and has trained previously for hotels and cruise liners; he also trains the new recruits. Staff speak English well and will happily snap any pictures for your group.
This is where we go if we want to treat ourselves to some delicious home made Italian food. I'm grateful that the owner, who's Italian, decided to bring a little taste of Italy here to the Philippines. Buon appetito! - Kris T.Bristol, ME315718Jun 5, 2022
Man, the people on here giving this place a bad review because the prices are "too high" need to stick to eating out of trashcans, and stop polluting this site. You go to a place with excellent service, the freshest food in the city and a fantastic atmosphere and complain that you are paying a bit more for the experience? Unbelievable.
Yes, you pay a bit more, but this place has been my favorite dining experience in the Philippines, and the best Italian food I have had in many, many years. It could not have been more perfect. Every dish was better than the last. I will be back as many times as I can. And, as everything was homemade, I did not consider the price at all out of line with what I received. Thank you, Al Bacio for being amazing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sean L.Angeles, Philippines2586Aug 29, 2021
Within Angeles city area, this Italian restaurant has pastas that are above the average

Food was good but too expensive! Serving was small too! Hopefully they will adjust their pricing!

Al Bacio has great italian food. I love all their pastas, My favourite one is the tartufo. The bread is served newly baked and the ingredients they use are all fresh.
Gnocchi, pizza and salad are good too. If you're visiting pampanga you should definitely try it out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff S.Dallas, TX318Jun 14, 2016
The pizza I had here was excellent, but I think the place is pretty overpriced. That being said, it is a classy joint. The food is high quality, its in a good location. Staff were friendly and attentive. But I repeat, its very over priced for what it is.
Besides the pizza, the ceasar salad was tangy and tasty, but sort of left you feeling like you want something more. The risotto was also well balanced in flavor, but once again, feeling like I didn't get much bang for my buck. If they just lowered the price a bit, I'd be in a lot more often.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Todd W.Angeles, Philippines0124Apr 3, 2019
Over rated and over priced, not really worth a trip here. The food is average to average plus, but the pricing is high. Also they add a 10% service fee to all bills. At 1000 plus pesos per person better choices available in Angeles City.

This is one of the best places to eat Italian. No shortcuts and top rate ingredients, some of which come from Italy. Giordano, the owner, has been in this place for a few years now and has steadily increased his clientele that now includes locals. My favorites: minestrone soup, pasta with tartufo( so rich) pizza, and gnocchi. It's hard not to fill up on the complementary bread when it's served hot. We usually eat family style and pass the different pastas around. The seafood salad makes a nice side.
We had the fiorentina steak a few weeks ago. OH my, so, so good. Even my gringo husband who poo-poos well-done steak was raving about it- grilled medium rare. A nice hunk a meat for carnivores- easily shared with 2-3 people but I can see how one hungry person would want it all to themselves.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Vincent A.Simpsonville, SC2926Jul 6, 2016
Good seafood salad... Great prosciutto and mango.. Caprice salad suffers from a lack of good tomatoes in this country. Great pizza.. Best I've had in this place.
Expensive but at least they take credit cardsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
